Davante Adams has been with the Raiders for two seasons, but since the departure of Derek Carr his short- and long-term future has been the subject of considerable speculation. Adams has been floated as a candidate to find his way to the Jets in a reunion with Aaron Rodgers, something the latter recently alluded to.
When asked by Vegas Sports Today about new Raiders offensive coordinator (and former Packers quarterbacks coach) Luke Getsy, Rodgers offered praise for the staffer. He followed that up, however, by saying of Adams that he “can’t wait to play with him again” (video link). That comment comes shortly after the All-Pro wideout confirmed Rodgers has frequently been in contact on the subject of joining forces in New York.
Adams, 31, attempted to shoot down further speculation on that front by reiterating his commitment to the Raiders. He was one of several core players who advocated for Vegas to retain head coach Antonio Pierce on a full-time basis, and doing so has sat well with Adams and Co. The Raiders went 5-4 under Pierce to close out 2023, and repeating that (relative) success this season would bode well for his job security as well as Adams’ desire to remain in place for years to come.
The six-time Pro Bowler is under contract through 2026, but the final two years of his contract call for sizable jumps in annual compensation ($36.25MM) and cap hits ($44.1MM). None of Adams’ base salaries for the 2025 or ’26 seasons are guaranteed, something which could fuel new questions about his Raiders tenure particularly if the team were to struggle early this fall. Both general manager Tom Telesco and owner Mark Davis have made assurances Adams remains in the team’s plans, but renewed trade interest from the Jets could be seen down the road.
New York pursued Adams (among other wideouts) leading up to the 2023 trade deadline, and further interest would come as no surprise. The Jets are believed to have had Adams on their radar since acquiring Rodgers, a logical development given their success in Green Bay. The pair spent eight seasons together with the Packers, and expectations would be high for them if a reunion ever were to take place.
A blockbuster trade sending Adams to New York does not appear to be on tap from his perspective or that of the Raiders. Considering Rodgers’ sway in the Jets’ decision-making, though, his input on the matter could keep this story alive for at least the time being.
Oh snap we know what that means
This time the Jets trade two firsts and a third for Adams and a fourth?
That Rodgers is preparing his excuse for his annual end of season chokejob already?
“We need someone like Davante for the offense to have the success it should have had this year….”
Good. Take the Clown Show to Vegas and get the hell off my favorite football team!
My condolences for being a Jets fan.
This means a lot to me. No one has ever adequately expressed sympathy to me for this predicament. Not that many people know that seasonal depression has its own subcategory for Jets fans.
Quit being a fan. Easy solution. I grew up on the Redskins in the 80’s and 90’s. The Dan destroyed them so I quit caring. Try it out.
You’re on your 4th marriage aren’t you arty?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not totally unsympathetic. But the Raiders have slowly approached the Jets’ level of incompetence. We had several years in the mid-00s trading 2nd/3rd rounders hoping to go from 5-11 to a robust 6-10. Then wasted numerous 1st rounders recently.
A healthy Rodgers gets them in the playoff hunt.
That’s more than any Jets done since Rex Ryan’s first season
I’m not willing to sell my soul to make the playoffs. F*#k Aaron Rodgers, the “man” is a piece of garbage
And yet he has more money than you do, a better car, better looking ladies, and gets to do all those commercials. Sir, wad me up and call me a piece trash if you get all those benefits.
Rodgers is pure garbage. Soiled garbage. He’s crap. A prima donna who can’t win in the playoffs. Been 14 years since he beat the other prima donna Ben baconburgher.
He is anti covid shot…he’s trash
A covid shot? I found the yes man, zombie. You always do as you’re told huh? Good boy.
Good response coming from a goof. Like Rodgers the goof….so you think that the movie booster shots turn people into a zombie???? You post like a zombie
He is anti covid shot…he’s trash
===========================
He’s trash because he has a different medical opinion than you?
Rodgers is actually pretty cool , open minded guy.
Lot of weirdos hate his guts tho cuz he didn’t take forced government injection
“Come get me!” In reverse?
Raiders need to start 2-6 so we can trade for my boy
The Jets meanwhie will be 1-7.
Hey, let me dream
If they weren’t 1-7 with Zach Wilson and no OL, they won’t be 1-7 with Aaron Rodgers and a competent OL.
Why they’d still be buyers compared to the Jets
New York fans have it rough in the next few years…salary cap hell AND Aaron Rodgers. Ugh
Tamper. Rhymes with Pampers.
Strange nobody makes a fuss when Rodgers recruits an already contracted player
You misunderstood Rodgers’ comment…he means that HE wants to be traded to the Raiders! It only took 1 year with the Jets for him to realize it’s a sh*t show in NY.
Maybe he is the sh*tshow
he means that HE wants to be traded to the Raiders!

Now that is just plain mean. Some guys just aren’t worth the high maintenance.
He trolling. Breathe.
Yeah, I would agree. It’s close, but I think that’s why Rodgers said it. People already hate him with the seething loathing akin to Hitler (or worse, Jerry Jones!), so he is going to enjoy his trolling even more. He probably told Adams that he’d say it, too. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Rodgers enjoys attention, but I do think that he’s bitter enough that he definitely enjoys trolling maliciously.
On one hand, it’s needless and petty and at times ranges from aloof to cantankerous. On the other, writers cling to every single thing that he does and slam him for it in every fathomable way. Rodgers’ response, obviously, has been to double down. Not only has he checked out of things that he SHOULD be doing (like going to training camp), he’s also caring less about things that don’t matter (like articles calling him arrogant for attempting a comeback last year during the season). It’s just gotten to the point where, like Jerry Jones, people hear Rodgers’ name and just immediately react without thinking.
In this case, I don’t think saying this was very respectful to the Raiders, possibly to Adams, depending on how he feels. I get that it might be a troll job or a personal thing to mess with his friend, but it’s still an obvious cheeky Rodgers comment.
Rodgers has not been in news. poor diva needed some attention.
The last thing you want to do is listen to Rodgers’ player evaluations – as he also thought Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard were worthwhile pick-ups.
With Rodgers at qb they probably would no they would have given better production.
Jets could have picked up prime Jerry rice and prime Wes Walker and that Zach Wilson offense would have still produced the same results.
How do people not realize he’s trolling?
This guy certainly finds strange ways to amuse himself. I guess that’s one of the downsides of always being the smartest guy in the room. Luckily for him, the NYC media is very understanding of condescending arrogance and hubris.
My head always tells me to trade Adams. They could possible rob a team like the Jets. But the dude is hellaciously likeable. Maybe see how we are doing in the first 8 games. If AOC is competent, keep Adams. If not, trade him to the Jets.
At worst, Adams deserves another playoffs.
Relying on 40+ year old QBs coming over a major injury who last played above average football three years ago and a 30+ WR whose best days are behind him would be so Jets.
Trolling or not, still tampering; with impunity no less
