Aaron Rodgers‘ debut playing for any team other than the Packers last year could not have gone any worse, ending only four snaps into the Jets’ season-opener with a torn Achilles tendon. What followed was weeks and weeks of will-he-won’t-he for a 2023 comeback.
In the end, despite several months of speculation on whether or not Rodgers would succeed in rushing back from what most consider to be a season-ending injury, Rodgers would be resigned to the sideline for the remainder of the 2023 season. He had seemingly proven his point, improving his health well enough to be activated off of injured reserve, but the coaching staff opted not to play him, keeping future seasons in mind.
That future season now appears on the horizon. With phase three of the offseason, consisting of 10 organized team activities practices, starting in two weeks, Rodgers is reportedly expected to come in with no restrictions, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
Head coach Robert Saleh expanded on that report, saying, “Once phase three hits, we’re not anticipating any restrictions from what we can and can’t do with him.”
In addition, Cimini reports that rookie fifth-round pick Jordan Travis won’t be ready as soon but should be healthy enough to participate by training camp. The backup quarterback out of Florida State is coming off a brutal ankle injury that many believe cost the Seminoles a spot in the College Football Playoff last year.
Luckily, the team isn’t relying on Travis to be ready as a rookie. After last year’s disaster and subsequent quarterback struggles, the team signed a major improvement at backup quarterback in veteran Tyrod Taylor. Taylor will likely join Rodgers for OTAs, as will undrafted rookie Peewee Jarrett out of West Florida who became the first Argonauts quarterback in school history to throw for over 5,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards. Those three arms should be plenty until Travis can join the group for training camp later in the summer.
If only they could restrict what podcasts he listens to.
Maybe you should make a list of the things he, and the rest of us, are allowed to hear.
Yeah, it’s really terrible when people have different opinions. We should really just do exactly what we are told, when we are told to. Then when we find out the truth later on I’m sure the government will apologize profusely and make everything right with us financially, physically and mentally.
FFS we’re talking about a Sandy Hook truther.
And? Everyone is ENTITLED to THEIR opinion. Doesn’t matter what you believe to be the truth. Why does anything you believe have any more validity than anyone else?
Because some things are harmful BS with no reasonable grounding in reality? Not everything comes down to belief or not. Washington signed an undrafted safety who doesn’t believe outer space is real. I don’t have to treat that like an equally valid belief, and that’s a lot less vile.
Why are you trying to control anyone else? Are you the thought police? Don’t worry about what I think or someone else thinks. Control yourself. Unless you do your own research you may not have ALL the facts.
“Do your own research” lol. Thank goodness you’re here to defend a very rich and famous person who spreads dangerous falsehoods from some random guy who has no power over him and said nothing about policing him or anyone else. He can say what he chooses and I can call him a harmful dope for what he chooses to say and roll my eyes extra hard the next time he says the Jets need to cut down on distractions.
I’m trying to say that you can control only yourself. Stop trying to control others thoughts or opinions. If someone believes something, who actually cares except people who feel like they must educate everyone else on what REALLY is going on or what really happened. Is that YOUR opinion, the Jets need to cut down on distractions? Good thing you’re running the team and can put out a memo about avoiding distractions and concentrating on football. To much time is spent on worrying what other people think and trying to inform them about the truth, or what others perceived is the truth. If we mind our business and stay out of others business life is so much more pleasant, at least in my humble opinion.
You clearly don’t actually believe that last part
Have fun with your life my friend. Got a lot to do, no sense arguing over things that don’t matter in real life, so YOU win, I lose. Celebrate your victory. I could care less if the NFL collapsed and we never have another game. If it disappeared we would miss it, but we would find other things to do.
Most of the theories out there (like the Sandy Hook false flag conspiracies) could be debunked by a rational human being in 5 minutes. Never mind that there have been instances where someone’s half baked opinions have caused real damage to innocent people (Pizzeria shootings, and people who lost kids in Sandy Hook getting death threats, never mind people who are victims of mistaken identity, or racial violence due to the ‘opinions’ of those they are listening to). But that the thing about a democracy, those people are not rounded up and put in padded rooms despite much of the damage they cause with those ‘opinions’ and ‘beliefs’. (and will not happen despite what the boner pill and vitamin salesmen say on their podcasts)
While one has the freedom to say what they want, they are not immune or exempted from consequences caused by such statements (you cannot scream fire in a crowded movie theater when there is none for example) or the freedom for others to judge and to take action. You cannot have it both ways.
Does anyone have any quotes from Rodgers on that, or are we just relying on Florio’s second hand sources again?
Cool
Also, I looked up Peewee Jarrett thinking he would be really small, only to find out he’s 6’4, 240.
Between the draft and the UDFAs, the Jets have two Argonauts – one from Toronto, one from West Florida.
That’s awesome
Toronto gets its share of Jets games, so if Quan’Tez Stiggers makes it to the NFL the Argo fans up North can have a place of pride.
I think the Jets will bring another arm into camp from those that tried out today. I read that Ben Bryant from Northwestern was the most impressive of those who haven’t already signed. Darren Grainger from Georgia State has talent too. I think all teams should carry 4 QBs between their main roster and practice squad.
I didn’t realize this was even a question. Guess I just assumed since he was cleared to play last year….he’d be fine to start the next season. Crazy
40-year old athletes are never a good idea,…
It worked out for the Saints and the Bucs, but otherwise I do see your point.
If they could only limit his interviews n “look @me” attitude.
