While the Ravens have already made a notable move in free agency with the addition of safety Marcus Williams, they have needs along the defensive front. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, d-line is the next area of focus for the team through the remainder of free agency.

Fowler notes that Calais Campbell – who is an unrestricted free agent – could still return to the Ravens. On the other hand, though, he reports that there is “leaguewide interest” in the 35-year-old. In two seasons in Baltimore, Campbell has recorded 77 tackles and 5.5 sacks. After nine seasons with the Ravens, nose tackle Brandon Williams is also a UFA.
Fowler names Michael Brockers as a potential Baltimore target, given that he could be a cap casualty. Brockers looked to be signing with the Ravens in 2020, but issues related to his medicals led to the deal falling through. The team then pivoted to Derek Wolfe, who had a productive first season with the team but missed all of 2021 due to injury.
As Fowler notes, help in the edge rush department is also a need for the Ravens. They looked to have a deal in place to re-unite with Za’Darius Smith, but he ultimately ended up signing with the Vikings. With most of the pass-rusher market having dried up, many expect the position to be a priority during the draft.
The Ravens currently have just under $11MM in cap space, so at least one notable signing along the front seven is possible. Given the current situation the team faces, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they make a move in the near future.
Wouldnt be shocked to see them draft dline and cb depth.
Jordan Davis round 1
Tariq Woolen round 2
Some pass rushers round 3, myjai sanders isiah thomas
Some interesting dt guys on the back end of the draft. Neil ferrel jr tayland humphrey
They are drafting multiple DL players in the first 3 rounds, maybe 1 in early rounds and then they have multiple 4th round picks.
Second round seems rich for Woolen. He’s an athletic freak, but he’s inexperienced, raw, and not really similar in profile to any successful corners. Lot of upside, ton of risk.
Woolen has similar build to Richard Sherman if thats what you mean by profile
Sherman: 6’3″ hand size 9.75 inches arm length 32 inches 4.54 40
Woolen: 6’3″ hand size 8 5/8 inches arm length 33.5 inches
4.26 40
Woolen’s a full 6’4, which is taller than any successful corner in recent memory. Again, amazing physical specimen, but there’s a lot of projection there and it’s hard to think he’ll play much corner as a rookie.
Some have him listed at 6’3″.

So in reality, nothing similar to Sherman. They’re 6’3 and have an inch and a half in arm length. And that’s where the similarities end. Saying “oh he’s got good measurables” when he never showed them as a football player when the other guy did is laughable.
Woolen had 25 tackles, 5 PD, 1 INT at UTSA. Sherman had 50 tackles, 4 INT and 6 pass PD at Stanford. A much harder conference. If your physical attributes can’t shine on a low level; why will they at a high level. Using exceptions as why a guy will be successful isn’t what an intelligent person does in the draft.
So the two worst picks they could with their first two picks? Jordan Davis shouldn’t be considered as a first rounder when he plays half your snaps. You draft him high and you’re gonna be mad. And woolen…who was less than impressive at UTSA with their second pick is a joke. They’re more likely to draft a corner high than a DT.
Tired of hearing this argument. Impact matters and Davis can be that kind of problem. Non-sackmasters can impact the pass rush…
Hell, use him at FB too. Now your “shouldn’t be a first-rounder” is filling two roster spots. Plus, “ Hungry.Pig Right”.
So they’re going to employ both Pierce and Davis…despite it not working when Pierce was young and Williams wasn’t. Having multiple guys who cannot move on defense is a problem.
Davis being that big means he cannot be on the field at all times. He isn’t well conditioned and it shows by his snap count. You’re not drafting a guy at 14 that plays half your snaps. At least Baltimore isn’t.
Good year to need DL in the draft.
