The Seahawks feel as though they have their next starting quarterback in Drew Lock, but they are one of few remaining teams expected to make another move of some kind at the position. It comes as no surprise, then, that head coach Pete Carroll says the team is “still in the quarterback business” as noted by Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. 
Which veteran the team would prefer to bring in isn’t a mystery, either. Carroll confirmed they are still trying to re-sign Geno Smith, who has been with Seattle for the past two seasons. The former Jet, Giant and Charger started three games in Russell Wilson‘s absence last year, throwing for 702 yards and five touchdowns, along with one interception.
“It just hasn’t happened” Carroll said of Smith. “It’s a negotiation.” It became clear even before the Wilson trade that Seattle wanted to retain the 31-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of DUI in January. As Condotta notes (on Twitter), Smith is likely trying to leverage a more lucrative deal from Seattle “knowing they plan for him to compete to start and not just be a backup”.
Meanwhile, Carroll also addressed the contract status of receiver D.K. Metcalf. “We intend for him to be with us”, he said (Twitter link). The former second-rounder’s rookie contract expires at the end of the 2022 campaign, making him eligible for an extension – which would keep Metcalf in Seattle, something he expressed a desire for towards the end of the season.
While Carroll stated that “we have not gotten to that topic yet”, he added that “there’s no way I could imagine playing without him”. Included in some trade rumors, especially after the departures of Wilson and Bobby Wagner, Metcalf being signed long-term would provide some significant stability on an offense facing questions at the game’s most important position. In his three seasons, the Ole Miss alum has averaged 72 catches, 1,057 yards and just under 10 touchdowns per year.
A Smith/Lock QB combination, the rest of the league must be shaking in their boots… 🙂

Deebo, by far. Deebo’s versatility and ability can carry a game of needed. DK is not a strong route runner and cannot take over a game against decent DB’s – he needs a good QB to excel, just watch. Look what Deebo has done with average QB play.
I wouldn’t give Smith more money, no way. Despite the games he started last year, his general performance on and off the field just doesn’t justify more than a back up. If *anything*, designate extra money as conditional, I.e., starting, wins, TDs, etc.

Metcalf needs to have a contract year performance if he wants the big bucks – and that isn’t going to happen with Drew Lock or Geno Smith at QB.
Jets should trade for DK give SEA picks 35 & 38.

24 years old ,tight end size, one of the fastest wr in the league, as a seahawks fan i would be extremely dissapointed with 2 2nd round picks, hard no for me.
The Jets should give Seattle their 6th and 7th for DK. Start with a first rounder and go from there. Have you seen the market for a WR lately????
Put together a package that has DK to Philly for Jalen Hurts.
I would do that if I were Philly, but Seattle on their end would be better off keeping DK. Hurts is mobile, and may fit their gameplan better, but he probably won’t give Seattle much more than they would get with their current options.
Yeah, if Philly could pull that off, they could just go get Baker then. They’d be a much better football team.
Why would Seattle want Jalen Hurts if Philly doesn’t?? We already have a QB that can’t play in the NFL and his name is Drew Lock. Why would we need two Drew Locks?? It’s not like we need insurance incase Drew Lock gets injured to save our season!! LOL!!

I love fans from other teams raiding the Seattle roster for DK with terrible picks and players. I guess after the RW trade you can’t blame them. They did take Drew Lock back in trade so anything is possible.
