The Colts announced in a tweet this afternoon that they have activated quarterback Carson Wentz from the reserve/COVID-19 list, a move that needed to happen by 4:00PM today in order for him to play tomorrow. He won’t be officially cleared to play until Sunday morning, but the expectation is that he will be available to start a crucial game against the Raiders tomorrow afternoon.
Indianapolis currently sits at (9-6), which is good for 2nd in the AFC South behind the Titans (10-5). While the division would be out of reach for the Colts if the Titans win either of their final two games (vs Dolphins, @ Texans), the Colts have the opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a win tomorrow. The win won’t come without a fight, as the Raiders (8-7) are battling for their playoff lives, as well.
Wentz tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and, as he is unvaccinated, it was required that he be quarantined for a period of 10 days. However, the NFL followed moves from the CDC and shortened the quarantine period to five days if the positive-testing player is asymptomatic. That appears to be the case for Wentz here and this protocol update may just have saved the Colts’ season.
No! Sam deserves a start!
Wentz is gonna blow it!
Nooooooo!
Are you for real?
Gee too bad these rules weren’t in place when the Browns had 9 starters out against the Raiders. Am I complaining? Hell yes
You mean when they moved the game like they didn’t for Baltimore? Yeah, you have nothing to complain about. They moved a game and gave Browns players a chance to get healthy.
You mean like last year when they moved the Ravens and Steelers game twice? The NFL just followed the rules in moving the Browns game. Everyone on the covid list was vaccinated and had to sit for 10 days. Ravens weren’t beating the Bengals no matter how long they delayed the game
He’s got a legitimate complaint, just not as much as some other teams who didn’t get that benefit. I don’t think anyone tops the Broncos from last year.the NFL screwed up their COVID protocols immensely by using them as punishment and privilege for certain teams and players.
Colts were without the majority of their line, best defensive player, best DB etc etc against the cardinals and didn’t get the game moved like the Browns so shut it.
Some of those Colts players were out for injuries and bereavement for the death of his daughter. The Browns had 19 on covid with 9 being starters and the game was moved so they could get the roster set. That time allowed 2 players to make it back. The Colts had 4 covid players with only 2 starters. Hardly equal
How does wentz get activated today when is supposed to qaurintine for 5 days.
What does 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 equal?

“the NFL followed moves from the CDC and shortened the quarantine period to five days if the positive-testing player is asymptomatic”
I hope the CDC knows what they’re doing!
I think the Eagles are the only team passing a lower percentage of the time than the Colts so this news may not be that significant.
