There’s been some back and forth all offseason, but it appears like things are close to being set in stone with outside linebacker K.J. Wright and the Seahawks. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be coming back for an 11th season in Seattle.
Pete Carroll said a couple of weeks ago the door was open for Wright to return, but Brady Henderson of ESPN.com writes that he’s not in the team’s plans. Wright has said since February that he wanted to return to the Seahawks, but not at a discount. However, Henderson writes the team’s decision is “only partly about money.”
Instead, it’s “mostly because the Seahawks want their top two draft picks from 2020”, Jordyn Brooks and Darrell Taylor, to become starters next to Bobby Wagner at linebacker in their defense. In other words, the team just wants to get younger on defense, which is understandable.
Wright is the longest-tenured member of the team, and has started at least 12 games in all of his pro seasons except 2018 when he dealt with a knee injury. However, the 2011 fourth-round pick will also turn 32 in July.
Wright won Super Bowl XLVIII with the team, and made the Pro Bowl in 2016. One of the last members of the legendary ‘Legion of Boom’ defenses of yesteryear, it sounds like Wright will need to find a new home if he wants to keep playing. He did say in late March he was interested in playing for the Cowboys, with his old defensive coordinator Dan Quinn now coaching in Dallas.
Goto Dallas to replace Sean Lee
Sean Lee retired.
Go to New Orleans and slot in next to Demario Davis
Come play Sam in Buffalo, similar systems and an actual contender.
Yes, the 12 win Seahawks aren’t a contender. Goodness
1. Did you read the actual article where he isn’t re-signing with the “12 win” Seahawks? Reading comprehension is a thing.
2. Seahawks got put down hard by the Rams in the first round.
3. The Bills kicked the “life” out of the Seahawks.
Funny
Obviously your bias. However, the bills are definitely no more of a contender than seattle. As for the rams, they have always had a rivalry, and i personslly wouldnt judge either team by their games against eachother. Lastly, seattle is the one movijg on from kj. Plenty of articles put out today on the issue about the matter.
Definitely not more of a contender..?
1. Crushed the Seahawks 1/1
2. AFCCg Vrs 1st round embarrassing bounce out
We can go back to the argument how many SBs have you won? I remember a 4 year stretch you were 0-4. Were you even born then? How many AFCC games have you been since the 0-4 streak. I don’t know maybe shut up until you have been relevant for more than 1 season in 30 years.
10 points is a crushing? Lol
I was 10 years old when the Bills beatings began and it was glorious.
Dude, the Bills are very good and a team in the rise getting better. The Seahawks are not on the rise, if anything, they stayed even or declined because Russ Magic is another year older. Plus, the “12 win” Seahawks benefited greatly from the underachievers in the division. All three division opponents teams got much better this off-season so the luck is pretty close to running out. The Seahawks are a Russell Wilson injury from being a 4 win team. The Bills are the better team and I’m not a fan of either team.
Dude I never said the Bills are not good. Allen is a good QB not to the level of Wilson yet might get there. Wilson rarely takes a good has a knack for avoiding them. Allen is a big guy and will take his share of hits. Seattle also is out on Wright because Pete has seen enough of the rookies to believe they can be effective there. Most team are a play from being irrelevant. Their QB goes down how many have a QB that can play to the level of the starter? As for the Div it is said to be the strongest in the NFL That is from all the Networks that cover FB. Buffalo is probably the best in their Div NE has the fashionista or a QB who has come from a bad school and Conf for turning out quality QBs. Miami is OK they need a real QB though. Do I even have to mention a NY team. Bills should win all those games but I will predict they lose 1 and maybe 2. If they lose more than that in conf time to crawl back in your snow cave and wait till July for the weather to warm up until Mid August. I am not going to talk about having 4 really good teams in your div since one team has dominated it for 20 years. You have been their whipping boys for years. Good luck this season hope you stay relevant for more than a year. I like Allen by the way. Didn’t see him play in college watched his pro day and was impressed. If he stays healthy will be good. One last thing we have a new OC. Is more of a passing guy and Pete has said he will stay out of his concepts and let him and Wilson do their thing. When you have Lockett and DK one of if not the best in the NFL along with the burner rookie they will be fun. The OL will be better this year too.
