Is there a guarantee for roster spots (2?) via the International Pathways Program? If there is, it might be like two-way slots in the NBA in that I think they’re considered separately from the 53-man roster. If every team used them, that’d be 64 players – more than enough to be their own team. It’d be a very weak team considering the talent gap, but I know the NFL is trying to grow the game internationally. I remember when Emmitt Smith was playing, he was trying to push for American Football to be an Olympic sport.
I see that there isn’t a guarantee. They’ve been going by division on a rotating basis. The player would be guaranteed a spot on the practice squad, but wouldn’t be eligible to join the main roster as a promoted player during the season. He’d need to be on a standard contract to play for the NFL roster.
Lions giving the Mule a little competition?
