Phillip Lindsay is sticking around Denver. The Broncos are tendering the running back, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Twitter). Lindsay will be slapped with the “low RFA tender,” per Schefter.
The 26-year-old exploded on the scene with 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns in 2018, earning him a Pro Bowl nod. He followed that up with another solid campaign in 2019, compiling 1,207 yards from scrimmage and seven scores.
However, the 26-year-old took a predictable step back this past season following the addition of Melvin Gordon. Lindsay ultimately got into 11 games (eight starts), compiling 502 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also added another seven receptions for 28 yards.
With Lindsay and Gordon still under contract, the team will have a crowded depth chart once again in 2021. The team is also rostering former starter Royce Freeman, Levante Bellamy, Jeremy Cox, and Damarea Crockett.
Post the Winston story already
Feel bad for this dude, really good player that gets zero respect
They resigned him..isn’t that respect?…even after a down year.
a down year? After Lindsay had 1,200+ yds for them, he lost his starter spot when they signed Gordon. They’d better draft a sleeper RB because they most likely won’t have either of them after this season.
Elway screwed the pooch
I agree. He can really play. I want the Bucs to sign this guy. He would be a great compliment to Rojo though I would like to see Vaughn get added touches as well. What kind of compensation is he tied to?
He’s a misfit on the Broncos. He really needs to be on a team like the Packers.
Misfit?
Lindsay would look good as a Patriot
He wouldn’t fit in! he’s not a cheater…
With the low RFA tender he’s still free to negotiate with other teams right? And he was undrafted wasn’t he? So if a team signs him they owe Denver nothing? Denver just gets the opportunity to match? It’s not a forgone conclusion that Lindsay could play on a new team next year.
Right but I have a feeling Denver basically wants another team’s opinion as far as worth and once someone does sign him, I have a feeling that if it’s anywhere near what Denver thinks his value is worth they will match it and keep him.
