For most of the season, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has stood behind head coach Jason Garrett. That’s not necessarily the case today, however, following a 13-9 loss to the Patriots.

On Tuesday morning, Jones told 105.3 The Fan that he is beyond “disappointed” with the club at this moment. Furthermore, he indicated that Garrett’s job is on the line, though he said that there would not be an in-season change.
“Disappointed is not the word. There’s no question that we were given an opportunity, there were things we could have taken advantage of,” Jones said.
Jones lit up Garrett after Sunday’s game and doesn’t seem to have cooled down much in the last 48 hours. Meanwhile, Garrett has five games left to restore the confidence of his boss.
With a 6-5 record, the Cowboys are atop the NFC East, with an edge over the second place Eagles (5-6). According to FiveThirtyEight, the Cowboys have a 65% shot of reaching the playoffs.
Garrett and the Cowboys will finish out the regular season against the Bills, Bears, Rams, Eagles, and Redskins.
they haven’t beat anyone good all year, they’ll make the playoffs because they don’t play anybody that good the rest of the way. They’ll probably go 3-2, squeak in and get smoked in round one.
But they are playing NFL teams which means they can win them all or lose them all
It’s always fun to go back and watch all the studio analyst predictions and pretty much 100% of the country took the Raiders to smash the Jets
So ridiculous, even as a raider fan they were driving me crazy. People were saying they’d run the table, win the division, so insane. They’re okay but no way that good.
If they go 3-2 the rest of the way, they don’t make the playoffs. The eagles are 1 game back and play the giants twice, the dolphins, redskins, and cowboys
the Eagles will probably get beat by the Cowboys which will make it a moot point.
Whichever goes 4-1 down the stretch will win division.
I could see Eagles doing it but the lose coming to NY. That leaves them tied, with a split season series. What’s the tie breaker after that? Division record?
You’re way over-estimating the Eagles. The East is terrible and I’m a Cowboys fan. Not spewing hate, but Philly isn’t any better off.
Well I know they have their faults but the eagles just lost two games to the patriots and Seahawks who have combined three loses. The eagles didn’t have their top two or three wide outs and their top running backs for the games. Their O-Line was beat up and they lost both games by one score. I don’t think they will win a playoff game this year, but I think they can absolutely win the division.
Oh for sure. Don’t tell my Dallas peeps, but I’m picking Philly to win the division. It’s the only way Garrett will be fired. Hopefully…..
I hope they do just good enough to keep Garrett around so they can be the same next year. America’sTeam that most of America hates. Fans are to full of ego to think they are not America’s team. Some dumb talking head called you that and the fans made it stick. Sorry to bust your bubble come up for air and you will see.
Jerry Jones is becoming the Al Davis of the NFL. Crazy old man making dumb decisions. Will be like the Raiders under Al until he is gone. Live long and prosper Mr Jones.
If Jerry wants a winner, then he can’t hire another “yes man”. But when he had HC’s with their own character, Jimmy J & B Parcells, he always fought with them.
He could’ve gotten 4-5 Super Bowls out of Jimmy Johnson, but he ran him out of town b/c he wanted to take credit for the success. Haven’t come close to winning a SB since the effects of Johnson wore off the franchise
Jerry catches crap for being an owner and meddling in the football operations too much. As much as I hate to admit it…at this point in his life he IS a football operations guru. He has a solid eye for talent and full comprehension of the day to day operations. The problem is the complex emotions he brings along. The Cowboys are his baby and he is guilty of letting his emotions guide him on occasion. It is hard to be the owner and operator of any business and not be invested emotionally to an unhealthy amount. I don’t fault the guy either as owning your favorite team would be nearly any fans dream. The issue is Jerry is a strong willed, stubborn man without a strong enough system in place to check him when he is being unreasonable. This team has the talent…mostly offensively. They expect to do well but don’t have the stones to put teams away. I could just as easily see this team going 5-0 or 1-4 the rest of the way. Jerry needs to get a coach with some cojones then back off and let the talent shine.
yeah, i dont see why owners, in all sports, are all assumed to be completely unable to make actual decisions related to the playing of the game. I get many are just investors, but you have to pick up a few things along the way, no?
Exactly! Owners who live and breath their team are some of the most knowledgeable executives. How could they not be when that’s all they think about? The problem is they aren’t held accountable like other employees. Someone like Jerry will never step down and essentially fire himself. An organization is healthier when the owner is just that and carefully appoints his staff and enables them to thrive.
Please , please tell me the great talent Jerry has brought in since Jimmy left in 95’
Please note the last 5 drafts have been credited to Stephen a Will Mcclay
So 95-2014 would be Jerry and what success they had
The Eagles probably have more “likely to win” games left in their schedule than the Cowboys do. 8-8 or 9-7 is winning this division.
I don’t get the sudden change in heart. Honestly, he should have been speaking out much earlier to this, when they couldn’t beat teams they were supposed to (Jets, Bucs). They went in to New England and lost a game everyone but the Cowboys figured they’d lose. No big surprise there.
you are counting preseason games?
*garrett claps*
Jerry loves the sound of his own voice but he is medicated to the eyeballs most of the time and has to be frequently reminded which team is his. Once he sails off into the sunset with his $250MM yacht the Cowboys will have a chance to reach their potential. As long as he continues to micro manage people with more brains than him it will be the same old story about underachieving.
i see we are counting preseason
As a diehard Cowboys fan, I can tell you this is the most disappointed I’ve ever been. This roster from top to bottom is outstanding yet they can’t beat anyone over .500. That’s on the coaching.
The Cowboys are too good at the offensive skilled positions to be this dismal. Garrett is supposed to be an offensive minded head coach. Don’t blame him for being upset here
It makes ownership look stupid for mouthing off and then not delivering. The man is unqualified, according to the genius owner, so why discuss it publically and why wait until the end of the season? Maybe the genius owner looks stupid for hiring him or maybe he has no one better to replace him or maybe he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about? He is a clown, idiot, blowhard that reminds me of someone else … lol. Except that other idiot actually fires people endlessly and no one ever questions that he was an idiot to hire them in the first place. Good luck Dallas. You need a better owner. I thought Dallas played outstanding last Sunday and to come into Foxboro and compete like that deserves praise.
No comment! Bottom line is Jerry Jones you haven’t even sniffed a super bowl since 1996!!
