The Titans have a new kicker. The club will sign Cody Parkey after cutting ties with Cairo Santos, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (Twitter link).
Santos lost his job after missing four field goal tries in Sunday’s loss to the Bills. Enter Parkey, who hasn’t been heard from much since his split with the Bears in February.
The 27-year-old missed a potential game winner against the Eagles in the opening round of the playoffs following the 2017 season, putting him on thin ice. He later made an appearance on NBC’s Today show that rubbed head coach Matt Nagy the wrong way. The veteran struggled during the 2018 regular season, connecting on only 76.7-percent of his field goal attempts.
Next up for the Titans (and Parkey): a Sunday afternoon showdown against the Broncos in Denver.
The double doink returns
the attempt was blocked 😉
I guess their very desperate to pick up this slack
people tend to forget that Parkey was pretty good before this year. one blocked FG really can do a number on one’s reputation.
Parkey was so good in his career, that no team wanted him back each year he played. That was a grazed fg, a kicker with a stronger leg still gets it through. Parkey missed 4 kicks in a different game last year. Hit the upright each time.
Kickers tend to move around a lot unless they’re an absolute stud, so that’s pretty irrelevant, especially for a 27 year old. And his one bad game that you mentioned badly skewed his percentage.
Nagy should spend less time worrying about events on the Today Show and direct his concerns to the Bears pathetic offense. Chicago will be lucky to finish 8-8 if that unit doesn’t improve from it’s current 30th ranking.
Auburn kicker goes to the Titans franchise. Nothin’ new.
Currently 49ers kicker Robbie Gould has missed 4 field goals their up 28-3 on the browns tho
Damn, was hoping they played the Bears. How epic would it be for him to doink one off the uprights AND THROUGH to win? Double doink would obviously be better, but the odds are much slimmer.
Doink.
Doink. Agggghhhhh
In real time.
Did he make this announcement on a network morning show?!
