Sunday, 8:29am: Diggs is expected to be active today, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Twitter).
Saturday, 2:46pm: Mike Zimmer has not committed to Stefon Diggs playing Sunday against the Giants, but the wide receiver did make the trip to East Rutherford, N.J., Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com tweets.
It would be a major upset if Diggs did not play for a Vikings team coming off a loss — and one rather thin at wideout beyond its highly paid starting duo. Diggs’ status resided as a talking point in recent days after the fifth-year receiver missed practice for a non-injury reason this week. He is believed to be at odds with the Vikings and did not exactly deny reports of unrest.
The Vikings fined Diggs for missing practice and skipping some meetings this week, according to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero (on Twitter), who adds this is not the first instance of Diggs missing meetings this season. Although no known trade request has emerged, this story does not appear to be over.
Diggs agreed to a five-year, $72MM extension and followed that up with a four-year, $64.8MM re-up for Adam Thielen. Neither’s roles have been as prominent for the 2019 Vikings, who have become the NFL’s most run-oriented offense. Minnesota’s 99 pass attempts are the fewest of any team that’s played four games this season. That has caused some issues from the receivers. After a 102-reception 2018 season, Diggs has just 13 catches through four games.
I think what people are missing is the players are competitors. They want to win. And when you’re losing, you get mad. He and Adam T feel as though they aren’t helping the team & they’re right! Now, its a line and QB problem; but Diggs being mad about being a non-participant in the O is very understandable to me.
I can fully understand a player being upset about not being used but this isn’t the way you express that anger. To pout and skip practices/meetings is extremely selfish. The way he is conducting himself only makes things worse and does nothing to help his team right the ship.
I am sick and tired of the Vikings playing like they don’t want to win. It is really sad to say that l have been Vikings fan for over 45 years. Can’t somebody come there as a head coach and lead that franchise back to the Super Bowl? No, because that organization is not committed to winning. I am not convinced that the GM and the HC are as good as knowing talent when they see it. That offensive like has been atrocious ever Mike Zemmer has been there. There is an old saying in football that says, “you’re only as good as you are up front.”. What in the hell is their problem when it comes to understanding that.
Really? He’s getting paid. Doesn’t matter what they ask him to do. If it doesn’t work then Zimmer and the GM are at fault. If they were going to run the ball, why did they shell out 120 million bucks for WR’s? Be a pro and show up.
Agreed
NFL players are such divas. For many reasons, that being just one, I care a little less about the NFL every year.
So….if I get mad at my job, I can just stop doing it and still get paid??? “Get mad”??? Really? Is this preschool???

Diggs is about Diggs. He likes to dig at his QB now, he doesn’t get the ball enough. It’s the QB’s fault that Minnesota can’t afford an offensive lineman for their team, let alone needing about 2 of them capable of taking care of business. Diggs is beginning to make trouble, as well as Theilen. The Vikings would do just as well to get rid of the pair of them, and get Dez Bryant and that speedy young Hognose Hughes to play for them. This would alleviate a lot of issues such as their salary cap woes, all of the unnecessary and constant whining, the degrading and disrespect of their quarterback, absence from team meetings, and other problems yet to come. The team could swing a deal for Trent Williams, which is a great, one time opportunity for any team, let alone one that really needs him desperately. With the Vikings running game near the top of the NFL, there’s not really any fire need to put up withall the baby dung anyway, and the passing game will actually lose nothing. It would be like a 50% improvement. The morale of the team would return, the fans and team would embrace their QB, as well as their team once again, and life would be grand back winning as opposed to whining football games. Let Diggs skip all the team meetings he wants, just do it someplace else.
Every player on the team wants to help the team win. The safeties aren’t whining because they aren’t getting enough interception…the O-line isn’t whining because they don’t get to block downfield more…the punter isn’t whining because he didn’t get enough punts to stop inside the 10 yd line…so you’re not the focal point of the offense right now…poor you!!! You’ll get your opportunities. The Vikings aren’t going to JUST run the ball on 90% of the plays all year. You’ll get yours Diggs…just make sure your tears dont get in the way of your hands being able to catch and HOLD ON to the ball when it does come your way. Now shut up and go out there and quit yer bitchin!!!
Do these guys have blinders on? Don’t they see how ridiculous AB and Ramsey are both looking? Join the ship of fools, Stefon. It’s all about you.
I really don’t see why everybody’s hating on diggs not like he asking for more and if don’t get wants trade. He just unhappy that there only need a average of 25 passes a game. Y’all making seem like it’s a money issue like AB and JR. And it’s not like he the only one saying this ADAMs diss cousin nobody says anything but diggs says something and everybody want to jump to conclusions. Y’all just mad cause y’all wasn’t good enough for the NFL or College lol wack a$$ ppl
Where did I say anything about money? He should do what class acts (that you NEVER hear about) do. Keep your business in-house. It’s still a team sport.
You’re the only “wack a$$” on here, dude ranch.
The greed always seems to hurt the entire team. It never seems to take teams like the Packers long to get rid of players like that. Some teams display class, while others cater to scummy people who happen to be good players. The real classy teams, just cut them, and don’t really want compensation because being rid of the disease is good enough. Cousins displays class despite the adversity, no just have to build a team like that around him.
Do your job.
Your WR’s and QB are making the bulk of the money. Only 99 pass attempts is crazy. Need to focus more of that offense on passing.
