The Vikings have trimmed their roster down to 53 players. Notably, the team waived kicker/punter Kaare Vedvik, who they just traded a fifth-round pick for a few weeks ago. They also sent packing quarterback Kyle Sloter, who has starred in the preseason the past couple of years and earned a lot of fans. Finally, the team cut their losses with first-round bust Laquon Treadwell. Minnesota drafted the former Ole Miss receiver 23rd overall back in 2016, and he never topped 200 yards with the team.

Glad we used that pick on Vedvik…
What a waste that was
I think 2016 #1 pick Treadwell has to hurt a little more
Oh no! A 5th rd pick wasted on a player that was a position of need! How will they EVER cope?!?! That 5th pd pick may have ended up something special next year! Like a backup special teamer, or even a practice squad addition!
Honestly. It was a 5th rd pick. Get over it.

Here’s why it was a waste.
There have been 540 5th round picks (not including compensatory picks) since 2000, and the article lists 10 great ones. So there’s a 1.8% chance the Vikings gave up a Pro Bowler for a chance at a starting kicker. I’d take those odds…
We have a starting kicker
They wasted a 5th rounder last year for a failure while in purple too. It just shows they can’t pick kickers. I’d take two 5th rounders over nothing and a tie game because of kicker that gets cut
Lol I knew someone would reply with a really insignificant article. Dorothy Mantooth nailed it. You are talking about about ridiculously small odds that this 5th rd pick would have been a productive player. The odds are much more likely that a 5th rd pick won’t see more than their rookie contract. Much more likely. Actually, I’ll let you do a little more research, article boy. Go find me a list of 5th rd picks the Vikings have drafted over the last decade, and we will see just how many of those planned out.
I saw someone list the last 10 5th rounders by the Vikes and other than Diggs none have had any impact in the NFL.
We cut sloter. Wtff
