Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown has lost his second helmet-related grievance, per Pro Football Talk (via Twitter). AB will wear a league-approved helmet in 2019 and beyond (Twitter link).
This was the expected outcome, and the ruling should resolve this issue once and for all. Brown has been practicing and seems to be past the foot malady he suffered during a cryotherapy mishap, so Raiders fans just have to cross their fingers and hope that Brown has put his off-field matters behind him.
Indeed, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com says that no further proceedings are expected (Twitter link). Pro Football Talk tweets that Brown is close to selecting a new helmet, and that it will be a custom-made model. Brown is also going to get an endorsement deal from the maker, so, once again, AB lands jelly-side up.
The 31-year-old wideout has not played this preseason, though he is expected to be ready to go for Week 1. The Raiders are not favored to make the playoffs this year, but this year’s “Hard Knocks” outfit should at least be interesting to watch.
The club opens the season at home against the Broncos on September 9.
Wow can you imagine that! The NFL not willing to admit they made a mistake? I’m sure all fans of the league as well as the legal self is an absolute shock and awe. Personally I have no problem with Antonio Brown’s compromise of giving him a season to get acclimated to a new helmet would have been nice if they gave him some notice.
They should make a special exception for Brown? If they did for Brown, then they’d have to do it year after year for others.
The NFL didn’t make a mistake, AB is just bring a diva like always.
1) proof read your posts unless you like looking like a moron
2) he had more than a full season of notice so maybe follow the entirety of the story unless you just want to be fake news
3) you are fake news
Your an idiot. How do you read this as they made a mistake. The rule was there brown just thought he was special
No mistake rules are rules the guy is a cancerous Diva.
The helmet company stopped making the model around 7-8 years ago. But keep blaming everyone but AB for this circus.
he had a year notice. In the end, he basically used all this mess so he could get an endorsement from whatever helmet he chooses to use.
Now if he has a custom helmet made does this need to be tested as well and would he hold out until the tests are completed?
Oh, you mean that year notice that he and every other player got last year? Players that wore the same helmet like Tom Brady? Every other player used that year to pick a new helmet. Other players including Brady were not happy either but they all did what the rules called for.
Shocked I tell you!
Now that the NFL has won this battle, maybe they should mandate that those associated with the Raiders have league approved haircuts.
lol
Im going to file a grievance against that blond mustache Antonio was sporting. I’ve got about as much of a chance to win mine as he did with either of his.
Funny that the union has had enough of his drama.
“The NFLPA submitted an affidavit in support of the league’s position to not allow Brown to wear the older helmet, sources told ESPN.”
Was AB able to get his Pacifier approved by the League to wear in place of his Mouth Guard? It would actually be a BIG improvement if he always wore one or the other off the football field as well !!
And everyone laughed at the steelers for getting only a 3 and a 5 its just staring raider fans
The Bills and their fans are very grateful that Mr. Big Chest informed the Bills that he would not report and saved the Bills a couple of reportedly much higher choices and all of the grief for the team and fans.
DIVA
diva
Diva
Steelers are better by subtraction, anything the Raiders gain from this DIVA will be short and sweet.
This will be some endorsement…
“Hi, I’m Antonio Brown and I only wore (insert name of helmet company)’s helmet because I lost two grievances and the NFL made me.”
Money well spent, no doubt.
Saddest part of this story is that we had to listen to this crap for two weeks.
