To many, the Chargers are the most logical destination for Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen. Apparently, those in the Chargers front office do not agree. The Chargers had some interest in Rosen at one point, but they are not pursuing a trade at this time, Josina Anderson of ESPN.com (on Twitter) hears.
The Bolts are obviously set in 2019 with Philip Rivers as their starting QB, but they need to start thinking about the future as Rivers looks ahead to his 38th birthday. There are some interesting QBs in this year’s draft, but one can’t help but wonder why the Chargers wouldn’t pounce on the opportunity to land last year’s No. 10 overall pick for .40 cents on the dollar.
It’s possible that the Cardinals are still holding out for a first-round pick (unlikely to happen) or a second-round choice (a bit more likely, but still improbable). Hypothetically, a deal involving the Chargers’ No. 60 overall pick near the back of the second round for Rosen and a later-round choice could get the job done, but that would depend on the Chargers’ overall interest in Rosen and the Cardinals’ desperation to sell.
For what it’s worth, some in Arizona feel that Rosen could co-exist with Kyler Murray, if he is indeed the choice at No. 1 overall.
Skins should throw out a 3rd for him. Then trade back in rounds 1 & 2 finally rebuilding.
If it’s only going to cost a second or third round pick, I’m not sure why more teams aren’t willing to roll the dice and take a chance.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cards already have a deal in hand, contingent on them taking a QB in the first round.
Perhaps Rosen for someone’s #2 in NEXT YEAR’S draft.
I never thought the Chargers were the likely fit and I don’t most people thought Rosen could be had for forty cents on the dollar… Giants seem like a more logical destination. giants 2nd round pick for Rosen plus a late round pick (5th or 6th) would be a good deal for both teams.
Agreed. He’d have been a first round pick if drafted this year, so why not move a second round pick? And they could still draft their pass rusher.
he was a 1st round pick last year
He’ll be on the bench this year.
Yea, but this year, if you aren’t Kingsburry/Murray, I would take Rosen over all the other QBs (which is what the guy is saying). He would have been a 1st rounder in this year’s draft. If he wasn’t in last years. Therefore, he’s worth the 2nd rounder the giants have. He would be the heir apparent to Eli. After Eli’s contract is up after the 2019 season… giants can add two first rounders and the QB of the future in the next couple days.
Yup, hence “he’d be…”
Yeah I think only Cards fans think they can get a high second rounder at this point. Teams obviously feel the Cards need to move him or he’ll lose even more value, I think there’s no way a pick higher than 45-50 goes, with nothing else attached.
You would think there would be a dozen teams interested if they could toss a late 2nd or 3rd round pick for him.
Him going to the Bengals makes too much sense for Mike Brown I guess. If they shipped a 3rd and one of their 3 5ths, then draft O-line and Linebackers tonight. He could sit behind Mr. Medocrity for a year, and learn the new system. Come 2020 another draft and the Cincinnati rebuild is over.
Zach, I think you meant 40 cents, not .40 cents. If you use the decimal, that’s less than one penny on the dollar. Now THAT would be a great trade for the Chargers! Lol
Rosen’s mentality ain’t conducive to waiting. If Arizona does deal him, he’ll have to go to a place where he can compete for the job.
