The Colts hosted former Broncos edge rusher Shane Ray on Friday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). The Colts added Justin Houston just yesterday, but it sounds like they’re not done bolstering their pass rush.

Ray didn’t live up to his first-round billing from 2015, but he has shown promise in the past. The 25-year-old (26 in May) amassed four tackles as a reserve in his rookie season and tallied a career-high eight sacks in 2016. Injuries have derailed him somewhat, however, as he has just two sacks in the last two years combined.
The Colts entered the free agent season with a major stockpile of available money, but have not spent much of it so far. After allowing Le’Veon Bell and other big names fall off the board, the Colts could get very active in the second wave of free agency with Ray and other low-cost additions.
So the Colts prefer to spend sensible money on rotational players rather than play the lottery and hope a good player will play all season? Smart decision. Depth will always prevail in the league.
Agreed !
Haha if they want to get better then they should have spent big on someone not named washed up Justin Houston.
Sad part is he’ll probably be the best player on their D.
Shane Ray is a bust. Reason he’s still out there and will sign for cheap. He’s too soft for pro football.
Ravens could use him
Agreed
I’m hoping that there’s a typo involved in this article:
“The 25-year-old (26 in May) amassed four tackles as a reserve in his rookie season …”
If that should’ve read FORTY tackles, then by all means, let’s tout this as a somewhat minor achievement. However, if was truly just FOUR tackles over the course of a season, wouldn’t you describe it as:
He was only able to muster four tackles in his rookie year.
Perhaps this was an attempt at sarcasm.
It is supposed to be 4 sacks as a rookie, not tackles.
Indeed. 4 sacks and 20 tackles as a rookie.
In other words youd be getting a guy who MIGHT get you 8 sacks in a good year
