Saints cornerback P.J. Williams was arrested in New Orleans for driving under the influence early Wednesday morning, reports Ramon Antonio Vargas of The Advocate.
Williams, 25, was allegedly driving 80 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone, while authorities also indicated Williams failed to used a traffic lane properly and failed to signal a turn. After being stopped, Williams refused a Breathalyzer test, which — as Vargas notes — is grounds for a drunk-driving arrest in Louisiana.
Williams was previously arrested for DUI in early April 2015, but those charges were later dropped just before the NFL draft. Still, the incident may have forced Williams’ draft stock to tumble, as he was subsequently chosen in the third round by the Saints after being identified as a potential Day 1 selection. In 2014, while Williams was still at Florida State, he crashed his vehicle into another car and left the scene, but eventually received only a traffic ticket.
Last season, Williams appeared in 15 games and played the second-most snaps of any Saints cornerback, but graded as a bottom-six CB league-wide, per Pro Football Focus. His rookie contract with New Orleans expires in March, at which point he will hit the free agent market. Given his off-field issues and his lackluster play, Williams may struggle to find guaranteed money this offseason.
Dang pj
He really stepped up after the Apple signing. He won’t have trouble getting a job.
Might have trouble driving to the job though.
He was probally depressed that they got screwed
He was just drowning his sorrows just like every other Saint fan…and, evidently the 3 officials who missed the play to begin with…
I get it, you’re a pro athlete and make a very nice living and probably feel like the world can’t touch you and all, but it’s pretty easy (again as a normal guy) to think they could just have that sober buddy to drive them around. Not a chauffeur, not a hired hand, just you know.. that guy who doesn’t drink in your circle that you might give 10k a year to make sure this doesn’t happen. Then you could get wrecked on the regular and worry about nothing… or you know, uber.
Or Uber…idk
Uber’s a bad idea bro!

Uber is only a bad idea if you are drunk, famous, and feel entitled to molest the driver.
where do i apply for that job?
More than his football career, this guy needs to get his drinking under control. This is possibly his 3rd driving violation where alcohol was involved. As someone who has had substance abuse issues, I hope he can solve his problems before they cost him or someone else their lives
It would be interesting to have someone conduct a study on how many false positives these breathalyzer devices produce. Unfortunately the damage to your reputation is likely to be permanent even if your lawyer fights the results and wins.
Regrettably, that tactic gets more and more difficult to hope for when you’ve had the problem multiple times.
To my thinking the spirit of law was intended that whether innocent or guilty the accused should be able to face his/her accuser. More and more we are seeing the accuser being not a person at all, but an instrument of technology (polygraph machines being another example) that can’t be cross examined. I find that trend disturbing.
He didn’t take the breathalyzer. In the state of Louisiana if you refuse a breathalyzer it is an automatic DUI. They also just take a blood sample at that point . The breathalyzer is not a pseudo science machine like a lie detector it is an blood alcohol measuring instrument that is damn near infallible. If there is a doubt as to the results they just give you another one. He got busted for driving like a moron plain and simple.
