The Bengals hired Hue Jackson this week to serve as a “special assistant” under head coach Marvin Lewis. It was presumed that Jackson would be involved in the team’s offense, given his previous role as the team’s OC, but Lewis says that will not be the case (Twitter link via ESPN.com’s Katherine Terrell).

This likely means that Jackson will be covering some of Lewis’ day-to-day responsibilities as head coach. In turn, that will allow Lewis to focus more on the defense, where he is effectively serving as the team’s DC after the firing of Teryl Austin. Meanwhile, Bill Lazor will continue in his command of the offense.
Jackson’s first game back on the Bengals’ sideline will come on Sunday against the Ravens. After that, Jackson has the first of two potential revenge matchups against the Browns on Nov. 25.
Didn’t have a role in the Browns offense either
Revenge games with the Browns? The man kept is job for 2 1/2 years, winning only 3 games. If anyone will be taking out their revenge, it’ll be the Browns. At least that is what I think. Before I can decide, I’ll have to watch the tape.
He had to watch the tape because he wasn’t watching the game when it was happening
Clueless Hue
His hiring is proof that once you’re in the league, you’re set. There’s no way that a 3 win coach in 3 years with dreaded offense should be helping on the O side of the ball in any capacity.
Nonsense. Hue’s always been a good assistant. A REALLY good assistant, in fact. Some guys aren’t cut out to be the boss, though. There are plenty of people like that out there in every industry.
Valid point. I just never saw the Bengals O as a threat to the north his 1st go around, less AJ Green. And nothing happened in Cleveland.
So Hue’s job will be to keep sharp objects and harmful medications out of Marvin’s reach while he waits for the firing squad.
Marvin Fired ??? No way. He’s got pictures of someone in Bengals ownership doin something
The Bengals ownership is always providing a public service by taking criminals off the street and putting them in a uniform, so how can they be blackmailed?
So when Marvin finally gets fired does this mean that both he and Hue will go on a pity me tour like Hue did to put down, seconds guess the GM and Owner, and say how they deserve another chance? I guess they can call is the Leis & Jackson Blastphamy Tour.
I think the pity card can only be played once. With little chance of ever coaching again they could give Kaep a call and ask how to file a collusion suit against the league…lol.
