The odds that Raiders edge rusher Khalil Mack is traded this weekend are “very real,” according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (Twitter link), who adds the market for Mack is unsurprisingly “robust.”
Mack is currently engaged in a contract dispute with Oakland, one that’s expected to last into the regular season. One of the NFL’s best pass-rushers, Mack is scheduled to earn $13.846MM in 2018 before hitting free agency next spring.
The Raiders’ asking price for Mack is believed to start with two first-round picks, but it’s unclear if any club is willing to meet that price. While teams have inquired on Mack, and offers have been coming in, Oakland has yet to make a trade. The Jets, for one, are known to be interested in acquiring Mack, as are the Browns.
Mack, 27, has been a wrecking ball since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2014. A three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, Mack has totaled 40.5 sacks over his first four NFL seasons. In 2017, Pro Football Focus graded Mack as the NFL’s seventh-best edge defender.
Would love for GB to get Mack. Not sure if they could make it work with Aaron’s new contract. But with 2 firsts next year to give, adding a top 5 defensive player sounds good.
The Packers are in the same boats as a few other teams who really need to find an heir to their aging QB. That has to take priority over adding someone like Mack. How many GMs are secure enough in their job to deal away 2 first round picks and survive if things go badly?
Their “aging” QB has at least 4 years left. Maybe as many as 7. And, unlike BLF, AR has not pondered retirement annually from age 30 on. AR wants to play until 40 at least.
They’re fine at QB.
Green Bay has the best chance. They have the draft capital, they’re a winning team, and they’re going to have plenty of cap space beginning in 2019.
Make it happen, Gute!!!
Tired argument. Cool, they have two picks next year. But how valuable are those picks?
The Packers have their pick and the Saints pick. Provided Rodgers is healthy, with Mack chasing down QBs, how valuable is their pick? Same goes for the Saints. They’re a top5 team in the league. So we’re potentially talking about two picks between 24-32 here.
A team like the Jets might only have one pick to give up next year. But that pick, even with Mack, will probably be inside the top10. A single top10 pick is more valuable than two picks between 24-32. If the Jets are willing to add a second future 1sr rd pick, the Packers “assumed” offer of their two picks next year wouldn’t even come close.
LOL.
Who’d want to play for the Jets or Bears when they could pick the Packers? Both those franchises are the definition of dysfunction, while GB has had more success than every other team in the NFL other than NE over the past 25 years.
Like it or not, GB makes the most sense.
The Bears also have the draft capital and the cap space. Wanna bet who he’d rather play for? My bet would be on the Bears. Keep dreaming, GB fans.
The only reason would be because of the citys. Definitely not football reasons
I love how CHI and MIN fans are basically screaming “NOONAN” right now.
IF GB gets Mack, and like it or not, outside of him staying, that is the best argument to make, GB instantly becomes the class of the NFC.
Hahahahaha….@bearmeat
He’s not a monster of the midway. Suck it. GB’s swirling the toilet has begun!
He’s not being traded… so much smoke being blown.
Not what I hear…. I’ve heard that multiple teams are trying to find a deal with Mack’s agent right now – that paying OAK off has been the easy sell.
Gruden doesn’t sound like he wants Mack, does he….
Smoke cleared….just sayin
I’m a browns fan and would love to add him too… If the raiders trade him, it would be a mistake. They would regret it pretty quickly imo.
Please Niners, this is your chance. Buckner is out there getting double teamed he could be a 10+ sack guy with a demon pass rusher in Mack by his side and hopefully Solomon Thomas improving.
I feel the same way, but doubt they make a play. They have been patient so far and don’t really seem all in at this point. Lynch seems content to build through the draft and make trades that don’t cost future assets.
If I have to read how much of a ‘wrecking ball’ he has been one more time…
but he is a wrecking ball. I mean who else would consider to be more of a wrecking ball that is available?
When it comes to Mack, every team theoretically has the necessary draft capital. What it comes down to is the teams with the necessary cap space- and which of those few teams is willing to give up the most of their draft capital.
Detroit needs tp take a look. I wouldn’t mind swapping ansah and a first for Mack. I know it wont happen but a Detroit fan can dream about a pass rush this season.
Pay him or trade him. Pick one already
To the Bears! Wow
