Many have speculated that the Bills will use the Nos. 12 and 22 picks to move up to the top 5 and the Giants, who are reportedly split on this year’s top quarterback prospects, appear to be logical trade partner. However, that might not be in the cards.
Right now, it seems unlikely that Bills GM Brandon Beane will “sell out” and trade up to the second pick, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports (video link). Instead, the Bills are more likely to make a move if a QB they like falls to No. 5 or No. 6.
The writing has been on the wall for the Bills to make a move for a quarterback in this draft ever since the team dealt Tyrod Taylor to the Browns. Though there is a chance a quarterback they like could fall to No. 12, it has long been speculated the team will use both picks to go after the team’s No. 1 target.
With the Browns (No. 1 and No. 4) and Jets (No. 3) likely locked in to taking a quarterback, Buffalo could find more likely trade partners in the Broncos and Colts. Denver has the No. 5 pick and could be out of the quarterback market after they signed Case Keenum in the offseason. The Colts at No. 6 could also be looking to acquire additional assets from a team looking to get in on the quarterback feeding frenzy.
The Cardinals have been heavily linked to Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and could also be looking to move up into the top 10 if the Heisman Trophy winner falls.
Sucks for the giants, now they have to make an actual decision.
I was thinking the same thing. I feel like the last 3 months Giants have been looking for a reason to trade down to accumulate more picks which is still their best option I think. But doesn’t look like it will happen. I was hoping for 12,22 a first round next year, and one 2nd round this year. And then hoping for a top 10 pick this year for Beckham.
I guess a !ot a of us Giant Fans are on the same wave lengths ! I feel the complete overhaul of upper management and a new Head Coach were positive moves.
Four picks is too much. Redskins set the market for moving to 2. This year’s first, next year’s first, and the year after’s first. Three first rounders. That’s 12, 22, and next year’s first. However given next year’s first is viewed as an early second rounder by grade scales you could justify a second and third this year. Y’all are just being greedy. I get no wanting to fall back to twelve and miss on the big name guys with more value in the last half of the top ten, but everyone is wanting buffalo to give up their first 4 picks this year and next year’s first. Not worth it.
Even three firsts is too much. Often times people go back and quote what the Redskins gave up to move up to 2, but it wasn’t about moving up to a specific spot in the draft, with the opportunity to select among a few players…they were trading for a specific player. If there were two QB’s considered head and shoulders above everyone else in the class, then maybe they’d have an argument. But there is way too much fluidity in who is going 1-5, let alone who a team could get a 2—which impacts what they’d give up.
Even the recent trades of the first and second picks by the Rams and Eagles did not require given up three #1s; both teams swapped first rounders with their trade partners, and then gave up an additional 1st along with a couple other lower round picks (1-4). Swapping picks and getting 2 additional first rounders is not happening in this draft.

Who in their right mind would give up a top-10 (or even a first rounder at all) for Beckham? Sure, he’s a supremely talented receiver, probably the best or second best in football, but he’s also a malcontent, wants ridiculous money, and is only controllable for 2-3 seasons. Not worth it.
I’m just curious if you were the Browns and your number 2 guy gets drafted(Chubb or Barkley) would you trade the 4th pick(assuming you drafted your QB at 1) to the Bill’s for both first round picks and both seconds? I don’t know what would it would actually take. just curious to see what you guys would think. I’m not as sold on Barkley as others might be. I just think they have quite a few needs.
I’m a Browns fan and in that scenario, yes I would trade down. They get a lot of hate for having traded down in the past, but if the guy they hypothetically want is gone at 4 then I see nothing wrong with getting a QB-desperate team to pony up a small fortune to move up a few spots.
That said, I’m a big fan of Chubb and if he’s there at 4, I’d sprint to the podium with his draft card.
Too much. See my above. Four picks in the first 64 for 8 spots is an over pay. The draft charts showed 12 and 22 alone is equal value for the 4th.
I’ll be happy with the next Barry Sander’s in Saquon Barkley. A RB like this dont come out too often .
These stories about the Cardinals moving up. How? They have 4 picks. Ate they going to give up multiple picks next year?
Either that or they’ll have to give up a player asset in the deal
Honestly the Cardinals just need to bite the bullet and tear it all down…there’s no point in burning future assets for a chance to move up and take the 3rd or 4th best QB in this draft.
The Giants don’t have the #2 pick just because they don’t want to take a QB. They can take whoever they want. If they want to take Barkley, they should. He’s a great player & may be the best player in the draft. They aren’t in dire need of a quarterback right now. Yes, they need a successor to Eli at some point, but not necessarily with the #2 pick. I would stay at #2 & take Barkley. There’s nothing wrong with doing that
There is no sure thing in any of these drafts, if Cleveland wanted to be gutsy they draft two QB’s at 1&4. If they got really lucky and both panned out, awesome keep one and trade the other or ride both until their rookie contract runs out and then act.
I can’t see how drafting two QB’s makes any sense, especially for the Browns. A team that has made a complete disaster of the QB position bringing in two guys at 1 & 4 to compete against each other is just asking for trouble.
The Browns should draft whoever they feel is the best player at 1, be that Barkley or Chubb, or whomever, and then draft a QB from what’s left. Taking a QB first overall is a bad idea for the Browns…so much history and pressure, and they never seem to make the right choice. So instead of letting them choose between 3-4 QBs, if they wait until 4th the decision could be made for them about who to take as the QB. And hey, if you’re the Browns or a Browns’ fan, who would your rather choose your future QB…Cleveland’s front office, or the Giants or Jets? I’d take my chances with New Jersey’s executives.
