This week, teams have taken a deep dive into the allegations against Gareon Conley. The attorney for the Ohio State cornerback says he has spoken to representatives from all 32 teams since the sexual assault accusation surfaced (via Tom Pelissero of USA Today). A different person close to Conley says the player has spoken with GMs, security people, and other reps from at least 24 NFL teams.

Now that teams have done their homework, the general belief is that he will get drafted this week. Three GMs who spoke with Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter) predicted that he will go in the third round, which aligns with a report from Wednesday night. That’s a hard fall from his original top 15 status, but it’s a better prognosis than he had just 48 hours ago.
If a team lands Conley in the third round and his name is cleared, he could prove to be the best value pick in the entire draft. If the unsettling allegations against him have merit, however, he may never see the field.
Those three GMs are just saying that about him going in the third round, hoping he falls to them in the first round.
This case is bigger than that. It’s not a “character question”, it’s one where if convicted he may serve a long prison sentence.
If I was a gm, I’m scooping him up in the second round. High risk high reward, might get burned on it but if this clears up, you get the steal of the draft.
Me too. I hope my saints get him with #42. If he lasts that long
Whole situation is fubar. Kid can’t even enjoy the draft process. The video that’s out there shows the women in question with him at the bar at least 30 minutes before she “met him” in the elevator. If it goes the way of Law & Order type storylines…. she met him and his crew at the bar they were living it up… she found out WHO he said something NFL related, she googled him saw Top-10 pick and saw $$$$. Either that or he did it or someone in his crew did it. From what I’ve read it takes ~60hrs be able to get a thorough review of the case and DNA etc.., so April 9 to April 27 there should have been some charges by now unless she’s looking for some kind of settlement pay-day. This is a semi-high profile case, you’d figure there would be a fire lit under someones butt to figure it out. I mean if I’m him and this turns out to be false accusations, sue her into the ground.
The fact that a top 15 pick talent has the ability to drop to the third round on the preface of basically what amounts to unscrupulous lies is just shocking. Sure, there may be truth to the claims, but the timing and the story both do not add up at all.
Basically, anyone can say whatever they want about a draft prospect and send their dream of being a NFL player into the toilet.
That is what makes me so angry about this! Yet the other person in this case has their identity protected and nothing happens to them for making false accusations. I feel bad for the kid. People saying he was stupid need to get a grip. He is 21 years old, basically a college student and was at a bar? How in any way if that a red flag on him? I am 21 and in college and all my friends go to the bars all the time. It’s normal.
No it’s the part about the sketchy motel room three way that she would’ve made a four way that is a red flag.
Some people get down like that
What does his sex life matter?? There are a lot of swingers out there and stuff. That is not a red flag lol.
Maybe the Vikings can pick him up and put him in the captain’s chair on one of their boat trips
