How does the undrafted free agent process work? Anyone know? Do players have a verbal agreement in place with a team if they dont get drafted or does it turn into a free for all and teams start calling every person they have a phone number and its first come first serve sort of thing?
It’s definitely a bit of a free-for-all, which is why we’re holding off on posting news of agreements/signings until they’re confirmed by teams. The UDFA recruitment process starts before the draft and continues throughout the draft for players who aren’t expected to be picked, and there are plenty of instances where a player or a team will commit to a verbal agreement, then have it fall through amidst the chaos.
