Today’s minor moves:
- The Seahawks announced a handful of roster moves today, with chief among being the placing of defensive lineman Damontre Moore, who was recently arrested for DUI, on injured reserve. Additionally, Seattle waived running back Kelvin Taylor, signed running back Terrence Magee off the Browns‘ practice squad, and claimed J.D. McKissic (whom the club will use as an RB, tweets Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times) off waivers from Atlanta.
- The Redskins have claimed Zach Vigil off waivers from Miami, per a club announcement. The Dolphins had hoped to re-sign Vigil to their practice squad, according to Barry Jackson on the Miami Herald (Twitter link). Vigil will take the roster spot of fellow LB Houston Bates, who tore his ACL and is now being placed on IR.

Browns Work Out David Cobb, Three Others
The Browns have been busy this week, as Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports (via Twitter) that the team worked out four players, including running backs David Cobb and Terrence Magee. The team also auditioned lineman Trevor Robinson and Darrion Weems.
Cobb is the most experienced running back of the two. The 23-year-old made seven appearances (one start) for the Titans last season, compiling 146 yards and a touchdown on 52 carries (2.8 average). Despite being selected in the fifth round of the 2015 draft, the Titans released the running back in August. He briefly caught on with the Steelers practice squad, but he was cut from the team earlier this month.
Magee, an undrafted free agent out of LSU in 2015, has bounced between the Ravens, Rams, and Seahawks. The 23-year-old has appeared in five career games, collecting 17 rushing yards on five carries.
Robinson, a former undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame, has 38 career games under his belt, including 21 starts. The 26-year-old made 13 starts for the Charges in 2015, but he was ultimately cut prior to the season. Weems, 28, has been in the league since 2012, but he’s only made seven appearances in those four-plus seasons.
Lions Work Out O’Brien Schofield
The Lions worked out edge rusher O’Brien Schofield today, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Detroit also took at look at defensive tackle Markus Kuhn and running back Terrence Magee.

With Ezekiel Ansah and DeAndre Levy both nursing multi-week injuries, the Lions are on the hunt for bodies along the front seven. Schofield, 29, would fit that mold, and he’s back on the free agent market after being released by the Falcons last week. Schofield followed Dan Quinn from the Seattle to Atlanta in 2015, and proceeded to post 28 tackles, four tackles for losses, two sacks, 13 quarterback hits, and one forced fumble.
Magee, meanwhile, probably isn’t going to be signed now that Detroit has inked veteran Justin Forsett. The 23-year-old spent a bit of time with the Seahawks this season, but only managed three carries. Kuhn, 30, has 39 career games under his belt, all coming with the Giants from 2011-15.

Seahawks Promote RB Terrence Magee
The Seahawks have promoted running back Terrence Magee from their practice squad to the active roster, the club announced today. Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times speculated yesterday that the Seahawks were saving their open roster spot to add another back given that Thomas Rawls is unlikely to play on Sunday due to a shin injury.

Rawls is listed as doubtful for the Seahawks’ Week 3 game against the 49ers, and if he’s unable to go, Christine Michael will draw the start, head coach Pete Carroll told reporters, including Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com. “[Michael is] averaging five yards a carry for a reason,” said Carroll. “He had a really good offseason. He had a terrific camp. All indications that he’s ready for a bigger load. He’s had 20-something carries so far. He’s ready to carry the ball 20-something times in a game. He could be fine with that.”
Seattle now has five running backs on it roster: Rawls, Michael, Magee, and rookies C.J. Prosise and Alex Collins. Prosise, like Rawls, is also battling an injury, as he recently broke a bone in his wrist. However, Carroll has sounded optimistic that Prosise will be able to suit up against the 49ers, according to Condotta. He and Magee could theoretically share the Seahawks’ third-down back role.
Additionally, Carroll “hinted” that the Seahawks could still employ a fullback during Week 3 despite the fact they don’t have an official FB on the roster, having recently released veteran Will Tukuafu. The most likely candidate to fill that role is tight end Brandon Williams, tweets Zach Whitman of Three Sigma Athlete.
Magee, 23, went undrafted out of LSU in 2015. After spending most of of last season bouncing on and off the Ravens’ practice squad, Magee lasted on the Rams’ roster until cutdowns earlier this month.

Seahawks Saving Roster Spot For RB?
The Seahawks didn’t sign another player after releasing fullback Will Tukuafu earlier this week, so the club still has one open spot on its 53-man roster. Seattle is likely holding that space for a running back in the event that Thomas Rawls isn’t able to play on Sunday, tweets Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, and the most obvious candidate to join the roster is Terrence Magee, who was signed to the practice squad on Wednesday.

Rawls, battling a shin injury, is listed as doubtful for the Seahawks’ Week 3 game against the 49ers, and if he’s unable to go, Christine Michael will draw the start, head coach Pete Carroll told reporters, including Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com. “[Michael is] averaging five yards a carry for a reason,” said Carroll. “He had a really good offseason. He could be fine with that.”
Magee, who went undrafted in 2015, is certainly one option to fill the vacant roster slot. The 23-year-old spent most of last season bouncing on and off the Ravens’ practice squad, then lasted on the Rams’ roster until cutdowns earlier this month.

Minor NFL Transactions: 5/6/16
Here are Friday’s minor moves from around the NFL:
- The Ravens have waived wide receiver Chuck Jacobs and running back Terrence Magee, tweets Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun. Magee is the only one of the pair who has appeared in an NFL game, having amassed two carries in three contests with the Ravens last season.
- The Jets waived offensive tackle Sean Hickey, per a team announcement (on Twitter). Hickey signed a futures deal with the Jets in January after spending time with the Saints and Patriots last season.
