With free agency less than 12 hours away, here are Sunday’s minor moves:
Denver Broncos
- Re-signed: LS Mitchell Fraboni
Minnesota Vikings
- Re-signed: P Ryan Wright
Both players were set to be restricted free agents. With the low-end tender costing $3.26MM this year, neither team appeared likely to tender their respective RFAs. Fraboni was not set to be tendered, per the Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson. Fraboni has been Denver’s long snapper for the past two full seasons, arriving during the 2022 season.
Wright has been the Vikings’ punter for the past three years. He averaged a career-high 48.9 yards per punt in 2023 and checked in at 46.5 last season. Wright will earn $1.75MM on a one-year contract, NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero tweets.
DJ Fluker to DC Defenders of the XFL
And he’s insanely chissled now if you haven’t seen him. Age 33, best shape of his life.
This guy’s gonna be throwing bodies in UFL
OT Zach Banner to Houston Roughnecks
Another guy who’s going to be elite for that position group, pending fitness.
Matt Corral officially signed his contract to return to spring powerhouse USFL Birmingham Stallions.
Corral is expected to backup returning Stallions legend Alex McGough at QB, although both should see their fair share of snaps, including rumors that McGough will see a lot of time at WR.
Odd, I know. But not even close to as odd as our final UFL story of the weekend…
Memphis Showboats cut QB Quinten Dormady 1 day after shooting team promo vid with him.
A rather odd scenario played out today when Memphis abruptly released veteran spring QB Quinten Dormady less than 24 hours after filming for team media took place on Saturday.
Dormady, who started multiple games for the San Antonio Brahmas in 2024, was thought to be in new Memphis head coach Ken Wisenhunt’s plans at QB after acquiring him in an offseason trade.
Fellow UFL veterans EJ Perry and Troy Williams -both of whom also made starts last season, will be thrust into the drivers seat for the former Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans offense minded former HC.
Perhaps there is more to this story, like fitness or opening a roster spot for a major signing.
But amid recent drama circulating over a push for a players union and an organized UFL QB strike (one that received endorsement from the NFLPA), perhaps we have a clue as to whom was leading the charge.
Would be a venomous display of business, but so is calling for union action 3 weeks before Kickoff.
UFL League owner The Rock played it off when questioned of the labor negotiations, “We pay these guys?”
Jk about that last part. But it does seem that the QB strike was short-lived with Dormady cut for another odd reason
Dormady was cut by XFL Orlando in 2023 after being accused of selling the teams playbook. (He was later brought back and started the end of the season for Orlando after an investigation proved his innocence).
