In need of a new starting option at the left tackle spot, the Bears will have Larry Borom available for Week 9. The veteran lineman was activated from injured reserve Saturday, per a team announcement.

Braxton Jones is dealing with a knee injury, and will be out of the lineup tomorrow as a result. The same is also true of third-round rookie Kiran Amegadjie, who absence is due to a calf issue. With both of those left tackle candidates out of the picture, Borom’s activation has him in place to handle first-team duties during his season debut.
The former fifth-rounder suffered an ankle injury during Chicago’s preseason finale, which led to an IR-designated for return designation during roster cutdowns. That move left Borom eligible to return at some point during the campaign, and his 21-day practice window was opened last week, indicating he would be available soon. As the Bears look to compensate for Jones’ absence, Borom’s presence will be welcomed if he can fill in along the blindside on a short-term basis.
During his first two Bears campaigns, the 25-year-old saw considerable time at right tackle along with usage at both guard spots. Last year, though, he made 16 appearances (including six starts) at left tackle. During that time, Borom was charged by PFF with three sacks and 25 pressures allowed, resulting in his worst overall grade (48) to date. Improvement compared to 2023 would be welcomed by team and player, especially with a lack of healthy alternatives up front.
As a pending free agent, Borom’s showing over the coming months will of course have financial implications. The Missouri product has 39 games and 23 starts to his name, and adding to those totals could boost his stock ahead of his first trip to the open market (or increase his chances of landing a second Bears contract). If Jones and/or Amegadjie miss considerable time, Borom could have a path to a notable workload during the second half of the campaign.
What a shocker, the Bear OL is hot garbage (still) and they are floating around 500. Williams is literally running for his life on some of those plays.
Never mind losing the last game that only should have been lost in peewee league football.
BTW, if Stevenson is not deactivated for this game, then the Bears org just basically told the team ‘do what you want out there we do not care’.
Especially with Eberflus and his ‘HITS’ principles.. Stevenson basically shredded his way through those with this game along.
This is also not the first time Stevenson has acted like a clown out there this season and previous ones with his borderline taunts and mouth, and penalties for such garbage. I just hoped he got it out of his system by now but after seeing him this season.. Apparently not.
I think the only thing that DOES get him to straighten up is loss of a game check or at least the inability to dress for a game.
Reddy Steward looked very good in the preseason and was a turnover machine in college, while Stephenson has the lowest season PFF grade on their entire defense! Hopefully Steward shows it Sunday & they recoup a 4th rounder for Stephenson. I’d deal Stephenson if I were GM, it’s their greatest position of depth. Also, could Hardy also be cut? How many ST penalties and personal fouls do they put up with? This is the year to cut the fat and invest in ass kickers next draft.
Hot garbage? Not really. That’s CLE who has given up a league leading (by far) 37 sacks this year. While CHI is at near bottom 23, that’s not to far away from other teams like PITTS, NYG, MINN and SEA AT 21.
Every week I watch Jim Harbaugh win games ans think that could’ve been the CHI HC.
I thought you were doing fine until you suggested Harbaugh as the Bears HC. Most of his pro success occurred in Frisco where he got a huge assist from Fangio. Vic got passed over for Nagy as HC in Chicago which was a mistake.
Uhh he’s doing a good job with the Chargers.
He’s beaten teams with a combined record of 10-22.
Jim H is one of the most successful football coaches around. His resume vs Eberflus is not even a comparison. Jim is up there as a QB whisperer like Shanahan. Vic was better suited as DC, his HC track record in DEN wasn’t very good. Nagys record as a HC is still better than Eberflus, and how many rings does Nagy have? Look at the draft, Jim took Joe Alt, CHI took Odunze. Which would you rather have now??
The only whispering Harbaugh does is to his signal stealers trying to hide from league investigators.
He made Colin Kaepernick better than he was. The QB at Michigan too. Now with Herbert. Jim knows the QB position.
There are probably a dozen or more coaches in the NFL that are very knowledgeable about one position but that doesn’t mean they are good HC material.
Jim H all-time W/L record
NFL: 54–25–1 (.681) NCAA: 133–52 (.719)
That’s really good HC material
Major game day news: Bears DB Tyrique Stevenson will not start vs. Arizona — he tipped Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary straight to Noah Brown for the Commanders’ winning TD. Fan video showed Stevenson clowning the crowd as the play began.
Stevenson is a skilled, physical young CB playing with an ultra-attitude that makes him great against the run and in press, although the Bears rarely play press. He does have value to some teams; however, he has continual lapses in zone, costs them yardarge & points with stupid penalties, and the lowest PFF on their entire defense. He’s a poor fit for the Bears long term imo and should be traded by Tuesday if Poles was smart.
Lots of young depth at CB and realistically, the Bears aren’t going to the playoffs this year. Shape the team into a SB contender with skilled players with integrity and grit. That should’ve been Stevenson’s last game as a Bear.
