Jabrill Peppers was recently arrested on a number of charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident. The Patriots safety is currently the subject of a league investigation, leaving his future with the team in question.
Peppers is on the commissioner’s exempt list, and both the NFL and the Patriots are looking into the situation. Depending on the outcome of that process, he could soon find himself in free agency. Patriots owner Robert Kraft publicly stated Peppers will be released if the accusations he faces are proven true.
“When you read the [police report] initially, it turns your stomach,” Kraft said (via ESPN’s Mike Reiss). “Once he goes on the commissioner exempt list, they do their independent checking. We’re doing ours. If what was reported is true, he’s gone. There have been some suggestions that this was a set-up and a lot of what was reported isn’t accurate… We want to get the facts.”
Peppers is alleged to have choked a woman and shoved her head against a wall outside his Braintree, Mass., apartment; he is also facing charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and the possession of a class B substance. The 29-year-old has been in New England since 2022, and this summer he agreed to a three-year extension. A portion of his 2025 salary is guaranteed as a result of that agreement, but a suspension under the personal conduct policy could void that compensation.
Cutting Peppers now would create a dead money charge of $8.73MM (although the remaining guarantees in his base salary for this year could of course be altered by league discipline). New England certainly has the cap space to absorb such a move, but it would leave the team in need of a new full-time starter in the secondary. Peppers has handled starting duties since last year, but his NFL future could change in short order depending on the outcome of the NFL’s investigation.
Too bad. He should’ve committed 20+ sexual assaults and would’ve gotten $230MIL…..guaranteed!
Wow are we actually getting a real case of innocent till proven guilty
Would anyone really be surprised if she’s making it up to get into his pockets just listen to everyone woman these days they only care about the bank account and if they can’t lock a rich man down they either try and get knocked up of make up some stuff to sue men welcome to the new way of life they don’t want kids for love they want them for a paycheck
Do you believe in innocence before guilt or not? Because you’re immediately jumping to assuming this woman is committing the crime of extortion.
You are a pathetic human being. Very sad that people like you exist. For sure, a trumper.
Calm down roob, take your TDS meds and get a binky
I get that these dudes are tough and aggressive by nature… you have to be to play such a violent sport. However, if you can’t be a pro and have the awareness to step back and just think about all that they have to lose….. He deserves what he gets. Playing in the league, making that crazy money, it’s such a privilege… if you can’t appreciate how lucky you are to have received that big back of money and all of the acclaim, then you don’t belong in the league.
Maybe it’s not true… innocent until proven guilty. I’m always in agreement with that, but if it is true… goodbye, good luck, god bless, don’t let the door hit you in the butt.
The issue I have, and I am not being a prude, is, can’t these players be a little selective?
Somehow I find it ironic that Peppers did this in a town called Braintree.
Individuals in all walks of life engage in domestic violence, or other forms of assault. Although we like to make believe that violence can be driven by celebrity entitlement, and a coddled lifestyle, celebrities are no more likely to abuse a family member, domestic partner, acquaintance, or stranger – we just get an exaggerated sense of these incidents because of media attention.
Every day and night, in thousands of cities, across the US (and everywhere else), an angry, out of control acquaintance slaps, chokes, or otherwise threatens the health and safety of another; truckdrivers, bank VPs, mail carriers, grocery cashiers, the unemployed. Every night, in even the smallest town, an insult leads to a bar fight, a shoving match, or an assault with a deadly weapon.
For some reason, we like to make believe that raging, uncontrollable temper is a characteristic unique to celebrities, but the fact is, that celebrities are generally held to a higher standard than Jeff or Susan, next door. When Jeff slaps his wife, and shoves her against a wall – when Susan does the same – we certainly hope to see them punished, but we reserve judgment until the facts have been gathered, and we certainly don’t immediately demand that they be fired from their job. I certainly hope that my local supermarket is not employing a convicted child abuser, and I hope that movie studios, record labels, and professional sports teams reject abuse and domestic violence, in the same light.
It is not correct to insist that this is a problem unique to, or even more represented within celebrity, and geesh, the comment saying that “everyone knows that this is how women shake down men for money”, that’s just plain misogynistic and disgusting. I have about as much respect for that, as someone who actually does beat on the people in their lives.
Robert Kraft, like most owners, is striking exactly the appropriate tone: “We do not condone any of the activities described in the allegations, and if they are found to be factual, we will remove this individual from our organization.” I would hope that the liquor store manager, the nail salon owner, or the temporary employment agency would have the same no tolerance policy.
At first I thought this comment was going to downplay the whole issue lol
“everyone knows that this is how women shake down men for money”, that’s just plain misogynistic and disgusting.”
But they have. It has happened and more than a few times. Matt Araiza’s name ring a bell? Andrew Ogletree? And a number of others were the charges were dropped.
“I believe in innocent before guilty, therefore I’m assuming these women are guilty of extortion”

Seems kind of odd for old ” HJ” Bob to be commenting on anybodies Sex Life.
Bobbie knows he won’t be holding any more SB trophies so perhaps he’s trying to win the NFLs hypocrite of the year award.
Kraft is so cheap he can’t even pay for decent tug job.
Discount Bob really looks bad. He won’t pay his players and his commitment to the team is questionable at best with providing to their quality of life.
This coming from shady Hand Job Bob, king of the Rub & Tug who has been caught with his pant down…. SMH
