The only minor move in a day full of bigger transactions:
New England Patriots
- Re-signed: QB Nathan Rourke
The former CFL standout passer will remain in New England after being claimed off waivers from Jacksonville late last season. Rourke has been a hot name of interest in the years following his Canadian success, meeting with 13 teams since that time. Despite time with the Jaguars and Patriots, Rourke has not yet made his NFL debut. He appears to be a part of New England’s plans at quarterback moving forward.
He just might surprise some people. Played the CFL game pretty darn good up in B.C..
There’s very little downside to kicking the tires on some of these top CFL performers and you never know when you might get lucky and find another Warren Moon.
B.C is not up.
Is for me – 22 miles north. Up and over my mountain then another then another then the border
Ah, the time honored tradition of the CFL MVP coming to the NFL to be a 3rd stringer.
Eh?
You don’t think NFL players ever go to the CFL and washout? I happens a lot as anyone who followed Johnny Manziel’s career can attest.
Not sure the best player in one league being an inactive in another league vs. the washouts of one league also washing out in another league are comparable.
If Lamar Jackson went to the CFL and got cut, maybe.
I agree that a comparison between a 3 down league and 4 down league is pretty iffy at best. No matter what direction the transition is taking place it’s going to be a challenge for a player to adjust and most struggle to adapt.
