In the aftermath of the Eagles’ wild-card loss, it was reported center Jason Kelce informed his teammates he was retiring. No official announcement has been made yet, though, and the future Hall of Famer acknowledged that his future is uncertain.
Kelce has been a mainstay on the Eagles’ O-line since his rookie season in 2011. The 36-year-old has contemplated retirement on a number of occasions in recent years, but he has elected to take one-year deals to continue his career. Kelce has earned first-team All-Pro honors in each of the past three seasons, demonstrating his ongoing ability to play at a high level. If he does hang up his cleats, though, he does not intend to depart the organization.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen for me,” Kelce said, via Olivia Reiner of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “But I do know, I still want to be involved in the organization and still want to be a part of it, regardless of what the decision is. Because I don’t want to ever feel like I’m on the outside looking in on these achievements and these accolades and these opportunities that largely represent entire cities and fan bases and organizations.”
Kelce has been in attendance for the Chiefs’ past two playoff games to support his brother Travis. The latter will have a chance at a third Super Bowl title in two weeks’ time and a second straight after being Jason and the Eagles last season. Any formal announcement will likely not be made until after the campaign comes to an end, but of course it is notable he has left the door open to another year as a player.
The Eagles drafted Cam Jurgens in the second round in 2022 to take over as Kelce’s successor at the center spot. Jurgens spent the 2023 campaign at right guard, but he could take over for Kelce if he does indeed elect to transition to a coaching or front office role. At a minimum, Kelce should be expected to remain in Philadelphia for 2024 in some capacity regardless of if he has played his final snap.
Whatever his future holds, the one thing he needs to do is stop hawking Pintys chicken wings. I don’t know how they are in the states, but uo here in Canada they are a total rip off. A box with about 10 wings in it can run ya damn near 20 bucks and they are absolute s#!t. Anyone who promotes a crap product like that must be desperate for something.
These are the comments we need.
Hot take on the hot wings!
I think it’s more like a negative yelp review misplaced into a football rumors comment board.
They send the crap wings to Canada. The good wings are here in the States.
Those are the metric wings
The Canadian government confiscated the good wings on the trucks along with the trucker’s bank accounts
Well it’s in response to Canada sending it crappy beer down to the US. Molson and Labatts export are . Moose head when did it turn to complete crap.
Perhaps darth would feel better if Jason joined the Bills roster and started hawking Buffalo Wild Wings.
Can anyone else see him in KC next year?
Creed Humphrey says no.
I was just going to mention this. I know KC has a great center of their own, but if Kelce will be okay playing either guard position….I can see him signing there to play with his brother.
No way
Nope

What the heck is he saying……does he want a piece of the team as payment for his accomplishments…….when you retire, you are very much on the outside looking in….that’s kind of the whole point isn’t it…..you’re moving on to a different phase of your life with your family and interests in this case than the Eagles……unless Management wants to make him a coach or offer some other part in the organization……these Kelci’s…..
Pretty clear he was talking about a coaching role, or some sort of front office role. That’s what players always talk about when they get close to retiring. Also, the NFL is full of ex players in coaching roles.
It’s become something like the NFL version of the KISS farewell tour
Not really. He never said anything. Some gutless coward who was willing to talk to Adam Schefter without putting their name out there said that he claimed he was going to retire. The Eagles players didn’t even get to their hotel after the game when that BS was reported.
He’s beginning to walk up to a line you don’t wanna cross. Since rookie year day 1 he’s been a vocal guy and became media friendly. Right now he, understandably, can’t come to a decision. So, when this is the case in your life, and you are by nature a media friendly guy you need to shift gears and you need to stop talking. He’s not up to the line yet and will be fine if he just stops talking. He needs to stay quiet because he will probably go back and forth right up until training camp.
Guys don’t get sick of the competition, they get sick of the grind in preparing for the competition. Roast guys like that or Favre for taking every preseason camp off while he decided, I’ll take a guy that loves to compete any day over the bum that cashes a check and doesn’t care. The media make this grind worse, the game was barely over and they’re already talking about Andy Reid walking away if they win. Let it go and let him make that decision without the pressure.
A pro sports career isn’t a particularly good choice if someone is bothered by media pressure. Reid wouldn’t have survived in the NFL as long as he has if he didn’t know how to handle the media pressure. Aaron Rodgers and Jim Harbaugh have made a career of manipulating the media to their own advantage but nobody complains about that.
I originally thought Kelce was going to retire after the season, expecting him to win a 2nd SB, or to at least a long playoff run. The way the season ended, I feel left him pissed off enough to want to come back for another run to go out on top or close to it, depending on how he felt about the future of the team. He’s publicly supported Sirianni, and Hurts since seasons end, so I think it could be a sign he will be back for 1 more year,I’m going to say 65% chance he returns, and takes another shot at that 2nd SB. I don’t see him leaving to play in KC. He has too many businesses and philothropantic work in the Phila.area to play for another team.
