4:25PM: In the face of the domestic violence allegations Ogletree is facing, the NFL has placed the second-year player on the commissioner exempt permission list, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.
9:27AM: Colts tight end Andrew Ogletree was arrested yesterday and charged with domestic battery, according to Joel A. Erickson of the Indy Star.
According ESPN’s Stephen Holder, Ogletree was charged with two felonies: domestic violence committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury.
“We are aware of the disturbing allegations involving Drew Ogletree,” the Colts said in a statement (via Erickson). “The team takes these matters seriously. We have notified the NFL and are in the process of gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this time.”
According to the Avon, Indiana, police department (and passed along by Holder), the alleged incident took place on Tuesday evening. The responding office wrote in a probable cause statement that the victim was found in an upstairs bed room in pain. The woman claimed that Ogletree “body slammed” her during an argument. An arrest warrant was issued on Thursday before Ogletree turned himself in on Friday. According to Holder, Ogletree was arrested at 3:42 p.m. yesterday and had not been released as of Friday evening.
Ogletree was a sixth-round pick by the Colts in 2022. He sat out his rookie campaign while recovering from a torn ACL, but he returned in time for the start of the 2023 season. In 12 games (nine starts) this year, the tight end has collected nine catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
He should be good to go tomorrow, no suspension until law enforcement says so…..right???? Kinda like Von Miller
Miller’s situation is a bit different. His gf recanted 2 days later. League would be hard pressed to suspend him when gf went public and said “no one assaulted anyone. Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous.”
$ounds $imilar. $he will di$mi$$ her $tory for $ome rea$on ju$t like miller$ $ituation
She was choked. Had marks on her neck.
I’m not arguing ethics or morality. Legally, if there’s no conviction no video proof of events (ray rice zeke Elliot Kareem Hunt) and the gf doesn’t pursue legal action there’s really no legal recourse the league can make for a suspension.
NFL issues a suspension
Miller appeals
NFL miller see arbiter
NFL submits police report
Millers team submits recanting statement and statements made by gf saying that report is false
Arbiter nullifies suspension
NFL knows how it’ll play out so they’re not gonna waste their time.
Now if he’s convicted of a crime he will probably see a suspension. But they’d need conviction first.
And I could be wrong but I believe during an appeal you’re still allowed to play. But not 100% sure on that one.
He’ll back at practice shortly! Lmao but gosh forbid you criticize the refs and get a $75k fine lmao nice optics nfl
Some of these athletes and their legal woes. It’s like they don’t know – or perhaps they just don’t want to know – how to live in a society. Kids are watching – or suffering like in this case – good parenting or otherwise…
They’re not brought up in a society as we know it. As the first sign of exceptional talent they are coddled, surrounded by yes people and have a different bar set for accountability. It’s a bad human experiment.
Woman must have bothered him terribly while he was studying for his engineering degree.
Like previous poster said as long as he didn’t DARE criticize the refs he’s good to go this weekend.
Goodells cash machine just keeps printing it for everyone involved they can beat the living $hit out of women .IN AD’s case , kids and its all good. Potheads?? Perfectly fine. Women and kid beating?? Fine……guns in cars ??? WTF why NOT!!!! LIl booger sugar on the mirror???? Hell that’s the Dallas way right MIchael Irvin??????
I’d lose my job for ANY of those stupid things NFL players do , but hell they keep theirs.
you lost us all at “potheads” but redeemed yourself with “the dallas way”
It’s idiots like you who think smoking pot is even in the same discussion as beating up women. What a joke you are pot is great everyone should have a joint this world would me a much better place. Don’t let buzz killington here ruin the good times
MLB does it right. The NFL is an embarrassment. Make the women beaters wear the old pink cancer jerseys so we can at least make sure they don’t beat any women while they are in the stadium.
Genius idea, so long as they are allowed to play (shouldn’t). I have always heard the league says it’s a privilege to play in their league, well, take away the privilege then. make a damn statement that stops the bs if they want a nice paycheck. if they don’t, fine go play in whatever league allows you to play for 40k if their lucky instead.
And Major League Baseball still can’t stomach the thought of a woman umpiring big league ballgames. The NFL has had women wearing the striped shirt as game officials.
Doubt it’s mlb doesn’t want women umpiring mlb games.
It’s probably the fact managers run out of the dugout get into heated arguments with umpires yelling and screaming and ultimately ejected defending their players and doesn’t want the negativity associated with a male manager arguing with a female umpire about her strike zone or calls.
You also have players get frustrated with umpires over strike zone.
Has more to with PR and image than it does not wanting a women to umpire games.
Maybe if they ever implement automatic strike zones you’ll see a woman behind the dish.
MLB would need artificial intelligence to implement automatic strike zones…oh wait!
Women shouldn’t be in sports. They are awful. If they were soooo talented there would be one league for men and women. Put a chick in any major sport (mlb nba nhl nfl) and she would be out after the first game. Maybe not in baseball that would take a hit by pitch. More women in sports means more women like Doris Burke ruining games. Just say no to women in sports
More women in sports means they would have less time to drag husbands and boyfriends off to purgatories like Bed Bath & Beyond.
I don’t know if the MLB is the sport I’d want to emulate in terms of league discipline, especially after the Bauer debacle…
I suppose there are a few NFL teams relieved that criminal arrests aren’t part of Goodell’s playoff tie-breaker procedure.
COMMENTS OPEN
The NFL has placed Ogletree on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, thus he is banned from attending games and practice until his criminal case is concluded.
I will never watch the NFL again said no one on here ever.
That’s because they all left.
Colin Kaepernick and the Anthem protest took a large number of fans that used to post. Seemed like a lot of people just got tired of the daily issues and politics that the NFL offered an escape from.
If only…
NFL ratings, revenue, cultural dominance, etc. are at all time highs.
Guess they made the right choice.
Dude – you need to be a bigger star if you want to avoid Roger’s wrath.
