Tua Tagovailoa will be under center tonight when the Dolphins take on the Bengals. The team announced on Twitter that Tua will be active for Thursday Night Football.

Tagovailoa has been dealing with back and ankle injuries stemming from Miami’s Week 3 win over the Bills, with the QB later admitting that his back has been most troublesome. He went through limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for tonight’s game.
Tua was injured while attempting a QB sneak on Sunday, and he exited the game on the next play after Matt Milano shoved him to the ground. The QB hit his head and stumbled on to the field before heading for the sideline, prompting him to enter concussion protocol. He ended up returning and finishing the game, and while the NFL’s subsequent investigation is ongoing, it appears that the organization followed the proper protocols.
The 24-year-old has lived up to expectations during his third season in the NFL. Through three weeks, Tagovailoa has compiled 925 passing yards, eight touchdown passes, and only two interceptions while guiding Miami to a 3-0 start.
If Tua was forced to miss any time, the Dolphins would be in good position to temporarily replace his spot in the lineup after inking Teddy Bridgewater this offseason. Seventh-round rookie Skylar Thompson is also on the active roster, and it sounds like all three QBs will be active for tonight’s game.
When he is 60 and cannot remember his name there will be others who wondered why he played this game.
If you want to avoid the risk of being hurt you can hide in a bubble all the time…but what kind of life is that?
head injuries are different. those aren’t something teams or players should take lightly and there are clearly laid out protocols from concussion experts on how to return. sadly in this case (and most pro instances I would guess) these are loosely followed. the league and PA have to do a better job of informing players to take this seriously. some prominent players have admitted to feeling the effects well after retirement and some are dead as a result of CTE.
The Prime Video feed is terrible. I watched it for 5 minutes and did not see one second of football..very disappointing…although they did show an interview with someone who I believe was Miamis coach, including a segment with him doing the interview on his cellphone. Overall who the F cares about a coach interview, just SHOW the damn game!!!
My feed was awesome
That’s two serious concussions in a row now. Dude should not have been out there tonight. Terrifying stuff.
The NFL and the Dolphins should be ashamed to let him play tonight. He almost looked like he had brain damage after that slam tonight. I hope he will be ok.
Head and neck injuries (if Dolphins staff to be believed at this point). That ain’t right to allow him to be hurt like that.
Sad they covered this up. There are many dangers to get a “back” injury then a head injury. Hopefully he is OK no long term affects from them or sorry it.
Dolphins are gonna have the NFLPA foot so far up their yingyang they’ll polishing the boot with their tongues.
I agree the PA likely will strongly denounce them playing Tua, but the PA also has a role in this. They need to better stress to players the dangers of coming back too soon.
That hit was brutal. Multiple weeks or out for the season ?
Dude, I think this is the first time I’m scared for a player’s health from just watching the game. I can’t watch this guy play anymore. He needs to stop. I know there’s a lot of pressure to win in life, but…if you don’t listen to your brain and body when it’s yelling at you, you eventually get dead silence.
That hit was brutal. Hope he doesn’t have any long term pain.
I read about last week’s hit (including Tua’s denial, which seems reasonable if you didn’t see it) but didn’t see it until today…
Ridiculous. He was so obviously concussed on Sunday.
A missed first concussion followed by a second one in less than a week almost ended the career of the best player in hockey and forced him to miss more than a year in his prime.
Tua claimed it was a back injury last week, so you have to take him at his word. By the look of things last night the back and or neck injury was apparent the way his fingers were and watching the whiplash he took during the tackle.
Hate to say it because I’m a documented fan but you have to fire the entire medical staff that cleared him including the independent doctors and you have to suspended mcdaniel for the whole year
Having both played the game from the late 70s-early 80s, and having coached over 30 years, I can truly say that what Ryan Fitzpatrick was experiencing is exactly what I felt. Outside of one other hit that I was witness to, that was unbearable to watch, especially when his body convulsed and froze. Definitely head trauma, Definitely shouldn’t be anywhere near the field.
