With a six-game suspension looming, Saints running back Alvin Kamara is also facing a civil lawsuit. A source tells Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com that the man who Kamara allegedly punched in Las Vegas will sue the NFL player for financial damages.

Kamara was charged with felony battery following an altercation in Las Vegas during Pro Bowl weekend. Video surveillance showed Kamara punching Darnell Greene eight times following an argument, with Greene being knocked unconscious and sustaining an orbital bone fracture. The victim’s impending lawsuit is seeking compensatory damages based on those injuries.
Florio pointed out yesterday that the NFL’s personal conduct policy calls for a six-game suspension for felony battery. That battery charge could also land Kamara on paid leave, which would result in some roster uncertainty for the Saints as they navigate through training camp and the preseason.
For what it’s worth, Kamara quickly questioned Florio’s report on Twitter. As we’ve seen many times, these ordeals can drag out for months or seasons, so there’s no guarantee that Kamara ends up missing any games due to suspension in 2022.
The five-time Pro Bowler collected 1,337 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns in 13 games last season. The Saints welcomed back Mark Ingram last season, but the team isn’t rostering much experienced depth behind the veteran RB. Holdovers Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington could see increased reps if Kamara is out of the lineup.
Felony battery is only 6 games?!?
Greg Hardy only got ten and appealed down to four. Big Ben got six and appealed down to four. Anything can and will end up as a four game suspension except gambling and (until recently) weed, I guess.
The Code of Conduct states that owners will be held to a higher standard. Since Jones, Snyder and Kraft got nothing, you gotta like the NFLPA chances of getting it reduced
Greg hardy was an absolute monster the details of that are horrific. Mike Vick came back to play after burning drowning electrocuting and hanging dozens of dogs I guess it is the national Felons league
If Watson has taught us anything it’s money makes any problem go away. Kamara will sit out 6 games and pay some small amount (small to him) and like Watson forget it ever happened. That is until the next guy try’s to get in an elevator with him and his friends
Some like Kraft don’t even have to pay. At least Snyder and Jerry Jones paid
Jack@ss how are you going to run your mouth over 6-10 comments then try to reply to my comment on here. I’m not into guys I won’t be your Watson stop trying
Go play your teen age mutant ninja turtles video game. You should change your name to Stone Cold Loser. Go dress up like your favorite Star Wars character
And quit bringing your love for Watson and disdain for Kraft into every discussion. A guy brutally smashing a civilians face in has ZERO to do with an owner getting rubbed out in a whorehouse and then a perverted QB sexually assaulting many women.
Never claimed any of that was equal but the Code of Conduct states that owners will be held to a higher standard. That doesn’t seem to be the case. What Kraft did was illegal. I don’t know why you feel like prostitution and sex trafficking is ok. It’s not. Do you agree that what Kraft did was wrong? Illegal? He should have been punished. Watson should be punished. I don’t agree that Watson should be punished like some on here want. Maybe the commissioner has more information about what happened. Maybe you could be a witness for the women. Oops, you weren’t there
Do you have an alarm that rings in your Deshaun bat cave alerting to you every comment? And why do you feel compelled to comment and try to get the last word in on everything.
PS: quit comparing apples to Watsons twig and berries, these cases have nothing in common.
I’m not comparing. One guy was arrested and is on video and the other is neither. Thanks for playing
You keep comparing the discipline as if either of those cases has anything to do with this brutal assault. Kraft was not convicted of his charge and did not pay a dime to any perceived victim. Watson can’t say the same.
Ding ding…time to get another senseless response in…
What did I miss where does the Star Wars stuff come in?? Just reaching for anything at this point huh gramps?
Stone Cold Steve Austin? You play teenage mutant ninja turtles video games? You gotta be a Star Wars fan, one who dresses up when they go to the theater.
Quit fantasizing about me old man it’s really creepy. Sorry that I’m successful enough to take time away from life and enjoy a video game from time to time. Maybe if you stopped beating off to the thought of Watson in mammas basement 24/7 you could enjoy a little normal fun in life too
I think there’s a big difference between beating a guy unconscious and breaking a bone in his face, and paying for sex. Get a grip
He didn’t pay for sex, he ruined lives because he can’t get it up without breaking the law.
There is. But both violate the NFL Code of Conduct. In the Code of Conduct, it says that owners will be held to a higher standard. Prostitution and sex trafficking is a crime
A quick google search on the nfl code of conduct does not say that owners held to a higher standard..says same standard as players, coaches etc. All the same. The nfl chose not to suspend Keaft because the main piece of evidence, the film was thrown out. That’s why case was thrown out in court also. Do I agree with it…no but there was a reason.
The Grand Juries refused to indict Watson. That’s even better than having the evidence thrown out because of a technicality on how the FBI attained the evidence. From what I’ve read, the owners are held to a higher standard
Good to know that any time a pro athlete wants, he can beat you/your wife/your children and pay a fine and sit out a few weeks.
I mean, not to act like it’s enough punishment, but you are missing the civil suit thing that is the point of this article, which no one is immune from.
I’m as big of a Saints fan as there is, but wrong is wrong. He should serve whatever penalty he is given. As a coach and former player for 40+ years, the fact that he would do this to his teammates and organization, is unfathomable to me.
Hit a woman – lifetime ban. Hit a man – 6-game suspension with pay.
Unless you’re Kareem Hunt?
Ya, there’s a weird double standard that has to do with both skill level and gender. Ray Rice wouldn’t have been blacklisted if he wasn’t already aging and had more left in the tank.
