The Bears have made another move at wide receiver. Chicago is signing wideout Dante Pettis, the receiver announced on Twitter.
[RELATED: Bears To Sign WR Tajae Sharpe]
Pettis was a second-round pick by the 49ers in 2018, and he had a solid showing during his rookie campaign, hauling in 27 receptions for 467 yards and five touchdowns. Since then, the receiver has collected only 15 receptions for 185 yards and three touchdowns during stints with the 49ers and Giants.
After getting waived by San Francisco during the 2020 campaign, Pettis landed in New York. In one-plus seasons with the Giants, Pettis averaged 32.6 yards per game in five contests while adding a pair of touchdowns. The receiver’s 2021 season ended on injured reserve after he suffered a shoulder injury.
The Bears have been busy reshaping their receivers depth chart this offseason. While they let Allen Robinson walk in free agency, they’ve added Byron Pringle, Equanimeous St. Brown, David Moore, Tajae Sharpe (who they signed earlier today), and now Pettis via free agency. The team also drafted Tennessee wideout Velus Jones in the third round of the draft, meaning the majority (if not all) of the receivers depth behind Darnell Mooney will consist of newcomers.
Bears are loading up on guys who briefly seemed promising when Justin Fields was a teenager.
Love how Chicago is loading up on former Giants. Yeah cause they come from such a winning program.
As for Petit, has all the potential you could want but then again so do many guys playing in the USFL and XFL. Just never can put it together.
Throw enough pasta at the wall, and some of it might stick. It still won’t make dinner, though.
I forgot all about this guy. Lol.
dante pettis and nathan peterman are arguably the least impressive NFL players of our lifetime. sick moves chicago
Pettis had a knack for getting open his rookie year in SF, but due to some drops and supposedly him coasting through some drills and practice, he quickly fell out of favor in SanFran..Reports also surfaced that he was kind of a loner and he turned some of his teammates off with his lackadaisical attitude.
Hopefully, for his sake, he can turn it around. He certainly has the talent, he just needs to get refocused and put everything all together.
If you were planning to hold a yard sale this weekend there’s a pretty good chance someone from the Bears will drop by to checkout what escaped the dumpster.
They will probably sign Kevin White next
Way to go Georgie, another slug. Just sell the team
You add no value. Give Poles a chance to clean up the crap left behind by Pace. Not saying it is going to work, but at least he has a plan if you can see it. I will try that any day over Pace. This team needed a total rebuild. That doesn’t happen in one offseason. Poles will have draft capital and cap space next offseason. Also, three more years with Fields on his rookie deal. I will wait on my still too early judgement until then.
Come on guys. Enough with the low hanging fruit jokes. It’s obvious most of these guys won’t make the cut. Most are camp bodies to fill out the 90.
It’s called a rebuilding year idiots. Stop complaining
But complaining is what the comment section is for! It is also what we do best <3
Could there be a worse receiving corps in the league?
New England, Jacksonville, and definitely Atlanta could give them a run for the money.
A bunch of these guys will be cut by the time the roster is cut to 53. I still think they add one of Landry or Fuller and they better.
