The Browns have considered pairing their new quarterback with his former wideout. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns have “contemplated” trading for Texans receiver Brandin Cooks.

Per Cabot, the Browns are “one of the multiple teams” to express interest in the veteran wide receiver. However, a trade between Cleveland and Houston is considered unlikely.
We previously heard that Cooks was on the trading block, and the Texans are reportedly seeking a second-round pick in return. The Browns already gave up a boatload of draft picks to acquire Deshaun Watson from the Texans, and if Cleveland’s front office is focused on keeping their few remaining picks, then Houston’s ask might price the Browns out of the Cooks sweepstakes. Further, Cook’s impending free agency next offseason means he could realistically be a one-year rental.
Of course, the asking price and the flight risk could still be worth it for a squad that’s looking to make a run in the postseason. Cooks is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Texans; he has now posted four-digit receiving slates for four teams. The Browns have already acquired Amari Cooper this offseason, but their other receivers (including Donovan Peoples-Jones, Jakeem Grant, Anthony Schwartz, and Ja’Marcus Bradley) are unproven.
Re. Sign. Jarvis.
JUST ONE:
Too many COOKS spoil the broth !!
Browns are like the Padres of the NFL, always “in” on so many players.
Thanks for sharing
Baker for Cooks…..
Texans can have Baker and Mills compete for the starting spot. Browns don’t need Baker with Watson and Brissett as his back up.
Browns fans might say that’s selling Baker low but it seems not many teams are interested in him. Texans will have some interest and have something you want in a quality WR.
Watson Chubb Hunt Cooper Cooks Njoku Willis Bitonio Harris Teller Conklin that’s a very solid offence.
Texans aren’t trading Cooks without getting a good pick. Baker would be a play to make them better right now, which isn’t their goal.
Cooks is a 1 year rental why wouldn’t a team give up a good pick for a 1 year rental when they can take a WR in the draft and have him for 4/5 years and it be cheaper….
Texans if they don’t want to be better right now also want to move off Cooks….
Baker makes them better now which may or may not be a good thing but it’s another option at QB, maybe they like what he has to offer and see some potential in him.
It’s kind of a good deal for both sides
Why would Houston deal their best skill position player by a country mile for zero picks?
Totally agree. 4th is the going rate here. Once the smoke clears that 2nd pie in the sky asking price will come to Earth. Not every team gives up 4 draft picks for WRs but there’s always a fish willing to bite!
Not sure he makes sense for a lot of teams given his cap number even with 2 void years. Not going to get a 1st for him. Maybe a late 2nd or a 3rd at best if someone’s desperate enough.
If he had another year on the deal you could say the Eagles would be a landing spot bc they draft like trash 90% of the time.
Browns or Colts maybe the only teams with the cap space that are going to be competitive. Remember other teams have to sign draft picks and/cut dudes to fit Cooks on the roster.
Cooks has made it very clear that he doesn’t want to be traded again, for whatever it counts. With only a year remaining on his current deal and with the need to sign a new one paramount to rendering any potential trade a success for the receiving team, Cook finds himself holding much more leverage than he normally would.
No team is going to give up valuable assets for Cooks if they feel that he won’t sign a new deal, and he is much too valuable a player to be given up for nothing. Houston will keep him if they can’t get anything that they think is worth it-at least until the trade deadline, when a playoff push might convince a team to get riskier with their offer. Unless Cooks feels the desire to reunite with Watson, he’ll have to change his public position to be amenable to yet another trade. Who knows, maybe he wants out of Houston that badly or wants to join a contender, but as of now he doesn’t seem to want to be traded again.
Would he be cheaper than Landry?
And I’m eyeing Kate Beckinsale, but I don’t think I have anything to offer.
