Could Robert Woods be on the trade block? The Rams have received calls about the receiver’s availability, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (on Twitter).
[RELATED: Rams To Sign Allen Robinson]
The Super Bowl champs shocked many when they inked Allen Robinson to a deal, and subsequent reports indicated that the team was still interested in re-signing Odell Beckham Jr.. Cooper Kupp obviously isn’t going anywhere, and Van Jefferson was productive during his sophomore season. While the Rams have a high-flying offense, something was clearly going to give.
It could end up being Woods, who hauled in 45 receptions for 556 yards and four touchdowns before tearing his ACL in practice. That injury happened in November, and while we’ve seen some miraculous recoveries in recent years, Woods would be hard pressed to be ready for the start of the 2022 season.
When healthy, Woods has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. He topped 1,000 yards from scrimmage each season between 2018 and 2020, and inquiring teams are surely counting on Woods returning to form. Woods inked a four-year, $65MM extension with the Rams in 2020, and he’s attached to $15MM+ cap hits for the next four seasons.
I’d pass on obj with the injury history and not being that great anymore. Woods fits the offense and is affordable.
OBJ was huge for the Rams in the red zone. Teams couldn’t just zone in on Cooper. Keep OBJ. Both are coming back from injury.
It probably just the Packers calling over and over again. Just keep letting it go to voicemail Les.
What would they have to give up? A 2nd rounder?
For a 30 year old non pro bowl WR, coming off ACL injury?
You’ll be fortunate to get a third. Packers will draft one with 1 of their 4 picks in the first 2 rounds.
I told ya 4th or 5th round at most and he went for a 6th. Don’t hate saying I told ya so.
Falcons need to have someone to catch the ball
They do, but I don’t think they are interested in giving away picks unless a QB is involved.
OBJ is so far off. He’s looking at being able to play playoffs and might not be even in game shape. He would just have some scripted plays. So then OBJ 2023 a year removed no thanks. To many leg injuries.
Robert Woods has been consistent and a constant and will be able to play in regular season games to get ready for post season. No brainer Keep woods.
Robinson was just making sure they have weapons . Kupp hasn’t exactly been a injury free player either.
I mean on paper it sounds good. Robinson with his speed, Cooper Kupp in the slot getting most the catches and OBJ out wide putting up good numbers and the occasional highlight play.
Robinson was signed to a good and reasonably cheap deal. If they can get OBJ on a cheap deal I’d listen to offers on Wood.
It would have to take a late first or a second. Otherwise I’d take someone for the o line.
I like Robinson but he certainly doesn’t have a lot of speed for an NFL receiver
You arent getting a first and probably not a two. Hes worth at best a three
Disagree
The issue is Woods doesn’t save much money even if traded, so you might be better off keeping him.
Chiefs could use another wr
Robert Woods family needs to stop posting on here. NO GM is giving up more than a late 3rd for him. And it don’t matter how desperate they are. He’s a solid number 2 on a non competitive team but he’s no more than a number 3 on a competitive squad with championship aspirations. Couple that with a high salary and then add on an ACL at 30? You’re looking at 4th or 5th round compensation at the most.
I believe your assessment is off. One would have to assume it’d be a contending team interested in his services, and the Rams just proved there is benefit to going all-in if you believe you’re close. It’s incredibly easy to see a contender parting with a late 2nd rounder for him.
Khalil Mack just got a 2nd and a future 6. No way an above avg receiver is worth Khalil Mack. For one receivers are less valuable and one of those two players is maybe a HOFer the other is Robert Woods.
If the Rams can off load Woods $14M cap hit for a 4th or 5th round pick then pull the trigger on the deal. Robinson, Kupp, Jefferson, Atwell, Skowronek, and several WR on taxi squad like Koski, with Beckham likely late in season. Rams could keep an extra TE if necessary.
listening to John Kincaid this morning in Philly during his morning show he said he’s getting it from a source that the Eagles are definitely in on Robert woods. take it how you want it but the Eagles are in conversations with the Rams
Back with Goff in Detroit? Knowing them though; content with Chark.
OBJ was huge for the Rams in the red zone. Teams couldn’t just zone in on Cooper. Keep OBJ. Both OBJ amd Woods are coming back from injury.
