The Raiders don’t appear to be satisfied with the notable additions they’ve already made in recent days. Still in search of upgrades in the secondary, they are “making a run” at cornerback Stephon Gilmore, according to Vincent Bonsignore of The Las Vegas Review-Journal (Twitter link).

The Raiders have made plenty of changes to their defense this offseason, most notably signing one of the top edge rushers on the market in Chandler Jones. Regarding the secondary, they’ve also traded for Rock Ya-Sin in a deal that sent Yannick Ngakoue back to the Colts, and signed former Raven Anthony Averett.
Still, Gilmore would add quite a bit of pedigree and experience to their CB room. The team still has plenty of cap space to work with, and any additions to their pass defense (which was mid-pack in 2021) considering the firepower which exists in their division would certainly be welcomed.
Gilmore, 31, was traded midseason from New England to Carolina after a new deal with the Patriots couldn’t be worked out. In eight games in Charlotte, he registered two interceptions, helping him to a fourth consecutive Pro Bowl, the fifth of his career. While the former Defensive Player of the Year called it a “dream come true” to play for the Panthers, it has long been expected he would at least test the open market.
Gilmore currently tops the list of available corners, which also includes the likes of Joe Haden, Patrick Peterson and fellow Panther Donte Jackson. If he ends up anywhere other than Vegas though, as Bonsignore states, “it won’t be for lack of trying”.
Where’s the idiot who said raiders have no shot. They get Gilmore they might be the second best team in division depending on draft
Even if they sign Gilmore, I’d still probably bet on them to finish last in the division if I had to bet on someone, but if you dropped them in the AFC South, I’d likely bet on them to finish first. Wild times out west.
Last? On paper they are better than Denver. Bronco’s have the better QB and I love the potential of Williams at RB but the rest of the offense is complete ??? Sutton and Jeudy are far from proven and their defense will likely regress next season.
I think Sutton, Jeudy, and Patrick will look great with a real QB. I also think they have a better O-line and defense than Vegas. Obviously I may be wrong, but that’s how I’d bet.
See the problem is your analysis is based on your opinion not on field production. Broncos are the worst team in division hence why they have the 8th pick in draft. Raiders made playoffs without head coach or a 1wr and just got arguably the best #1 in league
You’re judging the Broncos strictly on last year when they drastically upgraded the most important position in football? Tell me again what my opinion is missing. And I don’t have a rooting interest here, unlike you, I’m guessing.
Drastically??
Randy gregory is one sexual assault away from being banned from NFL
I was talking about QB, obviously. And haven’t all of Gregory’s suspensions been for a drug they don’t even test for anymore? What are you talking about?
I’m not a fan of any of these teams. No bias here. Clearly not the case with you.
Do more research on the Broncos. As of now, the Broncos are still definitely better than the Raiders on paper
Poor fool, check how we’ve beaten you pretty much for over 40 yrs
I love how people say that Denver’s d will regress when they’ve gotten younger, faster stronger and better. Then they talk about them not having a complete offense, when this offense has a receivers core that is underrated with Sutton, Patrick, Jeudy , Hamler & Albert O. Not to mention that Thi O-line is the best O-line that Wilson has ever had in front of him.
Denver’s defense will regress, yet a 31 year old CB with injury problems will definitely excel in Vegas, apparently.
IMO they will regress because they lost their HC who really drove that side of the ball. They lost their most reliable pass catcher in Fant. Sutton is nothing special and Jeudy needs to be able to stay on the field. I am not a fan of either squad but offensively the Raiders just picked up the #1 WR in the NFL(and have depth at the position) have a top 3 TE, and a solid running game. Their O lines are about equal. And LV pass rush is much better than Denver’s. No one for the Broncos can match either Crosby or Jones who kills RW3 like no other pass rusher.
Actually Patrick was their most reliable pass catcher and their new defensive coordinator Evero has been studying defenses under Fangio, Wade Philips Monte kiffin and don capers. He will also continue running the same 3-4 defense that’s currently in place now.
That the raiders have abused..Lol..
I love it
All pros typically age well. Unlike your horrible analysis. Russell hasn’t been a top 10 qb in 3 years hoping that changes with an unproven young core is laughable. Gonna enjoy seeing broncos finish last and come back to your idiotic comments
Even all pros who are 31, play speed positions, and have missed significant time the last two years?
Oh I’m going to love seeing you eat your words lmao
You have no one like Metcalf, period!!!!
Stop with your delusional argument..OMG,brainless tool
What happens when Wilson still plays like the Wilson from the past two seasons and not the Wilson of old? Will Denver’s high rated O-line be blamed and named the reason for Wilson’s poor play? I’m betting Carr has a better season than Wilson.
Denver is garbage,period..Raiders will continue to give them a whopping
Experts last year said the Raiders would finish the last the division
I would’ve had them behind Denver last year. I wouldn’t this year.
Idiot..Your hilarious..They’ll win division as long as they stay healthy
Fun caveat for a team going out of its way to get older.
Don’t bet no money on it, because you would lose little homie. How you figure the Raiders would finish last when they finished second in the division last year with a weaker squad. You’re comment doesn’t make sense bruh.
Well gosh, it’s almost like the two teams behind them also made moves? One of them added a top QB to a young roster and one of them added veteran talent to a strong squad with a talented QB entering his third season. But hey, points for calling someone little on the internet. That’s real tough.
Not trying be tough dog, just stating my opinion. And yes, every team in the AFC West has made moves, but none have made more moves than the Raiders have so far. And those moves have been very significant, other teams in the division have made significant moves too. You also have to realize that the Raiders have a lot of salary cap space, so they might be far from finished with off season signings.
Maybe 3rd best but second your tripping. Chargers and chiefs better than raiders after that it’s up in the air
That’s why SD made playoffs??.
Raiders beat that so called talented team..Lol
Kind of thought the Steelers were a natural. Perfect fit
As a Broncos fan, please no!!
Broncos will not make the playoffs, they have no DL to speak of and they don’t have a beast of a WR like Metcalf..The raiders should continue to beat them for 2 easy wins a season..They aren’t 1 good QB away from a playoff berth, period!!!
They signed DJ Jones. Look him up on YouTube , he’s a beast and number one last year against the run.
Garbage
They have gotten more than just one good QB on the off-season.
I just love how you think you know everything about Denver. When the Raiders defense got blown out both at KC and in Vegas against the Chiefs and Denver was in both games against the Chiefs because of their defense and lost because of their QB play.
They lost the last 4 times all games with the Raiders having multiple turn overs…That proves how dominant they were.
I guarantee Wilson and Mahones will be hurt by Raiders pass rush and end any hope of winning anything aside from 3rd and 4th place in division
It’s Raiders and Chargers
I need some of what you are smoking. Pretty bad analysis
Don’t smoke or take drugs but you definitely need to wake up from those wet dreams of yours.
What a
What a clown!!!
One thing that is undebatable is the AFC West is the best division in football.
