The Jets can be added to the list of teams willing to part with significant draft capital this year. General manager Joe Douglas confirmed that the teams’ top two selections aren’t necessarily off the table.

When asked about the availability of the fourth and tenth overall picks, Douglas said, “It depends on who we’re talking about. If it’s the right opportunity, we’ll consider any package.” (Twitter link via Connor Hughes of the Athletic.)
Douglas stated recently that the team is “going to strike” if the opportunity presents itself to upgrade their receiving corps – something which happened last week, of course, in the case of Tyreek Hill. While the All-Pro said after his arrival in Miami that New York wasn’t a consideration with regards to signing an extension, the process of his exit from Kansas City demonstrated Douglas’ willingness to trade for established talent.
While the pair of top-ten picks weren’t in the Jets’ Hill offer, they could be if another significant move becomes available. That follows similar lines of thinking made public in the build-up to this April’s draft. Both the Lions and Giants have stated their picks (second, and fifth/seventh overall, respectively) could be on the move under the right circumstances. In a draft class lauded more for its depth than its star power, that doesn’t come as a surprise, but Douglas’ comments are noteworthy nonetheless.
Coming off of a 4-13 season in 2021, the Jets certainly have room to add impact rookies with their current slate of picks. Between now and the draft, however, that combination of selections may see some significant changes.
If they offer us number 4 or number 10 for DK we better pounce on that.
yes DK is explosive but he is not worth a top 10 pick. I honestly wouldn’t even value him at a late first especially with his ball handling issues. I mean theres a good chance he could get a late first but not top 15-20.
On the Jets he would suck but a good passing offense he would be top 5 WR in the league. Seahawks cannot run a successful offense if they wanted too. They ruined him last year. The problem is giving up a high pick and then you gotta pay DK.
Would love for my Eagles to give up the 16th for DK.
We have three firsts, and DK would be a great fit with Smith and Hurts
Eagles would be a great fit for him and very worth any of those 1st round picks.
Sounds crazy but to go even bigger and better I’d love to see Will Fuller signed on a cheap 1 year prove it deal like 6mil. Have him return home to Philly. Trade a first for DK and then fully fit have DK Smith and Fuller as our best receiving trio.
From there would be mainly looking to improve on defence in the draft.
Hopefully could top our division.
I could see the Jets taking DK plus a 2nd round pick for the 10th. That’s the equivalent of swapping a late first round pick for him.
The problem with that is who’s going to throw him the ball? Certainly not an average to above average QB. Should you get him his numbers will go down. Safe assumption that he wants to go to a perennial playoff team and he’ll tell the Seahawks trade me to a team with good QB play
We would be foolish to trade DK especially if it is for our pick that we traded away.
Where is Seattle going with him? In that division? With Drew Lock? And a contract extension looming after what Kirk signed for? All day you make that trade.
Hawks will have the most cap space in the NFL in 2023 to go along with (2) 1st round picks and (2) 2nd round picks(likely 4 in the top 50). Next years draft will be one of the best QB drafts in the last 20 years, they can rebuild quickly. And honestly they can franchise tag DK 2x, so in reality he can/will be locked in for the next 3 years.
All he did was say he wouldn’t rule it out. Why would he?
I doubt they trade it. They are at a point where they are signing vets in an attempt to possibly push for the playoffs. But i doubt they try and get capital for the future years especially when they have a young and newly drafted qb. I’d say they will just address weakness in a hope to compete soon
They should: they always pick badly anyway.
They always have a record that puts them high in the draft order too, so it’s not like these picks won’t be recoverable in the near future when stronger classes of prospects present themselves.
“Willing to trade” is certainly up for interpretation. This sounds more like, “We are willing to trade as long as someone significantly overpays us with an offer we can’t refuse.” I don’t blame them at all for that stance—and every team should have that posture—but there’s a difference between what the headline says and what reality actually is.
I’m not really sold on Zach Wilson personally, but it seems to me that Douglas is making good moves otherwise in building the team. Picking a top WR or possibly trading for one would improve the team immensely, but with all the areas that New York needs help, they could just as easily find good fits by holding on to the picks in the draft.
If his comments are true, and with him sitting back and waiting to be impressed, I could very easily expect the Jets to make a move on draft day itself.
If Drake London is there at 10, I can see someone like GB trading up.
