The Seahawks-Russell Wilson era came to an abrupt end Tuesday, with Seattle and Denver agreeing to a monster trade. This arms the Broncos with a Hall of Fame-caliber quarterback, filling the position after Denver trotted out a number of starting QBs since Peyton Manning‘s retirement.
But Washington was first connected to making a Wilson offer. The Commanders have made it known they are interested in a veteran passer, and their offer included multiple first-round picks and selections in three drafts, per ESPN.com’s John Keim and the Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala (Twitter links). It did not prove to be enough, though the Seahawks likely prioritized moving Wilson out of the NFC. And Wilson’s no-trade clause allowed him to control his destination.
The Commanders asked the Seahawks if they wanted a player to be included in the proposal as well, Keim adds, but Seattle did not propose a counteroffer. The Seahawks had been negotiating with the Broncos on Wilson for weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com notes. Wilson, 33, moved Denver to the top of his destination list, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com tweets. The Broncos did not appear on Wilson’s list of acceptable trade destinations during the 2021 offseason, but a late-season report included them on an amended list of sorts.
While one glaring quarterback need is filled, another remains. Washington still has Taylor Heinicke rostered, but Ron Rivera has made it clear the team wants to upgrade. With Wilson and Aaron Rodgers are off the table, the Commanders could look to Jimmy Garoppolo. They hold the No. 11 pick in the first round, and while this year’s quarterback class has been brushed off for months, Washington sitting behind Carolina, Atlanta and now-QB-needy Seattle will not make it a sure thing the draft’s top QB falls out of the top 10.
Duh of course they offered a haul for him… the problem is why would he actually want to play for them? Terrible owner, shaky management culture, and a mediocre coach with nowhere near as many assets as the Broncos have
Wilson had zero desire to waive his no trade to go to that dumpster fire.
Yet he did…. Hammer so very insightful on your part.
Don’t be a tool
“Yet he did”? So he’s being traded to WTF and not Denver? Brilliant!
Wonder if Seattle takes Malik Willis so they can keep the same playbook.
Who knows, maybe the Commanders go after Cousins ?? Of course there would have to be alot of kissing and making up !!
Why would the Vikings trade him? So they can have double digit losses? Besides the commanders had cousins and they never valued him when they had him
Nope. They are going to roll with Drew Lock. Seahawks on fast track to Crap-town. So stupid.
J O R D A N

Rodgers is under control for 4 more seasons.
Packers might as well see if Washington will send a 2nd in this years draft or a conditional pick that can become a 2nd or 1st in next years draft.
Love has 2 more years on his rookie contract plus a 5th year option. Packers could certainly use the extra draft pick.
I’d make that trade in a heartbeat….but Gute won’t because it’s his pick and he will fall on that sword because to trade him shows just how stupid of a pick it was to begin with.
….but I wish….I really do.
They aren’t giving a 2nd for a lame duck QB who looks like he can’t even play
Hence the term conditional pick.
As in conditions have to be met.
If he’s a wash at worst they lose a day 2-3 pick (4th or 3rd rounder). If he’s legit day 1 (1st) or day 2 (2nd) pick isn’t much to give up for a franchise QB.
Ask the Colts if a conditional pick turning into a first rounder definitely means you’ve acquired your franchise QB.
Colts being dumb giving up on a dude who threw 3500 yards, 27 TDs, 7 ints, 63% of his passes with ONE running back (Taylor) and ONE receiver (Pittman, no one else cracked 500 yards) on offense isnt the example you think it is. Wanna try again?
Please. Tell us who else the Colts had to help out Wentz. I’ll wait.
True.
The Colts are giving up on Wentz for a reason, the dude flat out can’t play when games matter the most. He single handedly cost them the chance for the playoffs.
The colts lost 8 games lmao. He didn’t single handedly cost them a chance at the playoffs. He isn’t why they lost 8 games. They had chances all season to secure their playoff spot. It’s a team sport. Carson Wentz doesn’t play receiver or defense.
Yeah still too high for Jordan Love, even if conditional, who looks like he sucks, anyhow, no one will even give up a second, and maybe not even a third.
Might as well draft one this year and get a whole rookie deal if you’re going for that big a question mark.
I think Love would get a 3rd at best. He’s done nothing. Dolphins traded a 2nd rounder (and a 5th) for Josh Rosen and look how that turned out. I can’t imagine anyone offering more than a 3rd for a guy who hasn’t shown anything in two years.
GB is maybe probably looking at a 4th. He has not been given the chance to prove he is worth more than that yet.
But he ain’t no good. At least he hasn’t yet shown anything good
Hey Commanders, go get Wentz.
This could be a perfect time for Detroit to let Washington draft Pickett number 2 in exchange for the 11th and a first next year
Yeah right. That would be nice though.
THey can probably hold tight and get him at 11.
The Commandos have the worst ownership group in all of football. Makes u wonder why any top end player would want to play for them. Plus the way they went out of their way asking every team in the league that they wanted a QB made them look extremely desperate and needy and pathetic
Please take Matt Ryan.
I’m sure Kirk Cousins is available for the right price.
Lol. Nobody wants to go to that poverty franchise.
Calling it now; Jimmy G to Washington
And if he does, the over/under on games played is 10.
Wentz to Seattle let him use his arm to throw to one of the if not best WR duo in the NFL. RB will be one of the three depends on who is healthy.
Seattle trades their #9 pick to drop in the draft and get a first next year. That is unless someone falls to them. With three first round picks they could move up if they see A QB they like.
They will trade back for sure! They will turn RW into four LJ Colliers and a couple of Marquise Blairs in no time!
Seattle should sign Trubisky.
Why? They are no longer relevant in the NFL. If you are kicking the tires on Trubisky you have done something wrong.
Trubisky, Fitzpatrick, Haskins, Darnold, Charlie Whitehurst, doesn’t matter.
