Earlier today before Super LVI began, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that the Rams are extremely optimistic about bringing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. back on a new deal next season. If the Rams pull out a Super Bowl victory tonight, Beckham will max out the $3MM incentives attached to his current contract, but Los Angeles is adamant that it won’t be his last check from them.
Beckham was brought in on a one-year free agent deal after a bit of a forced release from the Browns. The Rams were happy to have Odell come in to fill the gap left on the depth chart by a season-ending injury to Robert Woods. Since joining the Rams, Beckham has seen a resurgence to his career as his five regular season touchdowns in eight games with Los Angeles are the most in a season for him since he played for the Giants.
Sean McVay and team brass see him as an ideal fit. Alongside 2021 Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp and big-play receiver Van Jefferson, Beckham offers impact, explosiveness, and plenty of touchdowns. Once Woods rejoins the corps, opposing defensive backs will have their work cut out for them.
As of the writing of this post, Beckham is currently sitting on the sideline with an injury, watching the Rams try to make a comeback and win the Lombardi Trophy. The three-time Pro Bowler exited the game after a non-contact injury left him clutching his left knee, the same knee in which he tore his ACL in 2020.
The hope is that this injury will have no effect on today’s report. Hopefully, whatever has befallen Beckham tonight allows him to return to the field next season, and his marriage to the Rams can remain on schedule.
Refs waited all game for a ticky tack call to change this game. Not even a bengals fan, but that first PI was bovine. Where was the money line?
About as bad as them missing a blatant face mask on the 75 td pass on cinci. Both teams got lucky calls.
True but the Rams got more!!
All the refs were on the back side of the at since it was a deep route. They didn’t have an angle from behind. But yea it was a blatant foul
Don’t have a dog in the fight and didn’t care who won. Bengals win this easily if that garbage o line doesn’t let Burrow get sacked 7 (almost 8) times. (Tying a SB record) Looking for blame, that’s where to put it. Almost got Burrow killed.
If the Lions had represented the NFC instead of the Rams you could’ve said you don’t have a cat in the fight.
Moneyline was -190 for the Rams
That first holding call against the Bengals was complete FUBAR. I could tell live it was BS and then watched the replay 5 times. There was zero grip or holding at all and it might have cost the game. If I was a Bengals fan I would call the game rigged.
Looks like an ACL. Which would make for a great cheap re-sign. Sad for him and football though, he’s fun to watch
Yeah, he was a blast in Cleveland… :/
He sure was – signed a Steelers fan
Bull crap call the better team most.
Is he truly hurt, or just being his usual prima donna self? Both QBs got some nasty dings and both came back out balling.
None contact knee injuries are never good. Looked like ligament damage to me.
Yeah, man. He was totally faking it so he could get out of playing in the motherhumping Super Bowl. Give me a break. What an idiotic comment.
Dude tore his ACL but sure
They should put an * next to this win! Game decided by a ref who made a BS Call!!
Refs guna ref
Where? Logan Wilson never didn’t touch Kupp. Then Kupp got tackled again before the ball got there. Then if Eli Apple just turns his head on a soft thrown ball, maybe that’s just knocked down instead of a TD.
Now let’s see, OBJ, Weddle and Blanton go down. Spain or Adenji almost starts a fight with Donald because he shoved Burrow OOB while he was still well in. To the point where 2 other OL try to jump in and come at Donald. The egregious no call that was the only reason they ever had a lead. Then we could get onto the fact that the OL really couldn’t protect burrow to where he gets rag dolled and is probably injured.
So what was the part where the refs gave them the game? Most of those calls or non-calls went the Bengals way. Whereas the penalties for the Bungles were actually penalties.
See if the TD never happens, the Rams are driving for a FG anyways. And likely just kill the clock and it’s 16-14. If anything the Rams having to score a TD gives the Bengals another chance. One that they wasted anyways because they couldn’t protect Burrow.
And what was the face mask drag on Ramsey?
OBJ will find a way to make things bad so he can get out of LA like he did in Cleveland and NYG didn’t want him any more.
Who cares? Dude is a scum bag. Always has been.
Thoughts:
Refs didn’t cost them the game. The call was bad and a makeup call. But the lack of protection and adjustments to offset the lack of protection cost them. The bengals did nothing offensively In the second half.
Probably not an ACL or MCL. The fact he was walking on it makes it seem like something less significant like a meniscus or hyper extension.
I haven’t liked his antics but OBJ was a difference maker for the rams and went back to something closer to his old self. He’s still not as good as his rookie year for the G-Men but he changed the rams offense.
You never seen someone walk off the field/court with an acl/mcl? Literally happens every time. Just because you have a long rehab time doesn’t mean you can’t walk.
Thoughts: Refs cost the Bengals the game! They marched the Rams in right in for TD.
