Mason Crosby could still be in the Packers’ plans. This week, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters that the veteran kicker could stick in 2022, despite a rocky ’21.

“For where our football team is, having a championship kind of kicker, a guy who can compete at that level, is important,” Gutekunst said.
Crosby missed nine field goals and a pair of extra points last year — a far cry from his best work in previous years. In 2019, Crosby connected on 91% of his FG tries, setting a new personal watermark en route to a three-year, $12.9MM deal. Then, in 2020, he was flawless on all 16 of his FG attempts.
Even though Crosby will turn 38 in September, there’s reason to believe that he could rebound. Of course, it also doesn’t hurt that Crosby is friendly with Aaron Rodgers. Gutekunst even alluded to that in his scrum, which was mostly dedicated to the MVP’s future in Green Bay.
In other Packers news, the club is aiming to retain both outside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and cornerback Rasul Douglas. Campbell notched 146 stops, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions last year en route to First-Team All-Pro honors. Douglas, meanwhile, managed two pick-sixes while leading the Packers with five interceptions.
Rodgers for Carr and a future first. Fix the cap.
Would take more than that.
Also let Crosby go…draft a kicker in the late rounds. That cinci game alone should have been the end of him.
I think that depends on whether or not Rodgers signed a new contract. They have to have the Situation fixed by 3:59, a trade can’t happen until 4 o’clock on March 16. Given that information, if it’s one year I think carr and a first is sufficient for just 1 year of Rodgers.
*cap situation
it would take much more then carr and a first. there are already multiple offers on the table. carr, 2 firsts, a second and another player…Rodgers wont be traded for less than that
I get you want as much as possible for Rodgers . But I’m taking 2 first round draft picks and Carr all day lo long.
Whether it’s a trade, extension or retirement, any of the options will provide cap savings. His cap situation isn’t the linchpin to GB’s overall fix. It’d be huge if it happened sooner than later but it doesn’t HAVE to precede other moves they’re likely to at least try to make no matter how things shake out with 12 (or 17).
Nobody is going to jump to acquire Rodgers without an extension agreed to prior to or in conjunction with the actual trade. That said, if a Rodgers for Carr (plus) is the move, GB isn’t taking Carr back without an extension either.
Once again, why are comments closed for DeShaun Watson???
Bc the comments are always absurd. They just need to stop posting the stories.
Because these sites are run by a bunch of little bitches simple as that

are the Packers ruling out not going over the salery cap too?
I’ve stated this on a previous post and got ripped. Packers can’t keep everyone. Restructuring only goes so far. If people just go to an interactive salary cap website and see that you literally can not re-structure everyone, a lot of this bs would stop. There are only so many contracts you can restructure before cuts begin. And this does not even take into account all of the Packer in house free agents (Adams will be $20-25M/year alone)
The list of restructures is shortening.
They haven’t yet started working on the list of extensions. Amos, Gary and Alexander being the top 3. Jenkins absolutely should be once he’s back from the ACL
As for not keeping everyone..I doubt they plan to. Z is the most logical straight up cut. I believe neither his nor Preston CAN BE restructured. Cobb, Turner and Crosby could all be cut, and potentially re-signed..or not. And they wouldn’t really be out much if anything.
So if they do all these things and are $40+ million UNDER the cap, they can keep as many in house FA’s as they want/can fit. Probably even have some spare change for draft picks.
I admire your optimism.
I’m not opposed to keeping Crosby, but he should have competition for the spot. He had his issues this last season, but he wasn’t the only reason for missed kicks. The LS and holder had plenty of issues. And as unheralded as their roles are, they’re critical to the kicking game.
Personally I hope Rodgers goes back to the Packers. They haven’t won with him and won’t if they keep him. 1 Championship is a joke. The Prima Donna has held this team back. Time to go
I think even if he wants to stay and they get offered Carr and 2 first rounders for him. Do it . That helps these team stay competitive and it’s possible Super Bowl. Get two good defensive lineman first round to start to put pressure and stuff run. It will fix cap a lot .Tag Adams I think they definitely can change his mind staying.Keep Campbell and Douglass. The two things after that you gotta fix is Special Teams and WR . If you think we can’t compete for a Super Bowl your nuts.
He’s back to back mvp I don’t think he’s the problem
May not be the problem but not as much as the solution as he thinks he is either. Trent Dilfer has just as many Super Bowl wins as AR!!!!!!
Go look at Aaron rodgers stats. There’s a reason he’ll go down as top 5 qb of all time. Just wait til he leaves and the packers end up with a regular qb and let’s see how good they are. In football your qb (99% of the time) makes your team. Of course like you hinted to there are a few Trent dilfers, Eli manning, joe flaccos who had amazing teams around them where great qb play isn’t needed
You’re right, without Aaron Rodgers the Packers would have won at least four Superbowls by now. Can’t believe he still is in the league.
Crosby had an awful year, but finding a reliable kicker as his replacement is no sure thing.
I agree they should hold on to Crosby and give him a chance to rebound. Teams that fall into the plug and play approach with kickers on a weekly basis don’t win championships.
And considering the volatility of kickers and his historical markers, he’s more likely to move positively toward the mean and have a good season. Not sure you can necessarily expect another kicker to do better, especially a UDFA.
To increase his motivation to succeed, maybe they need to change the music that is played when MASON CROSBY comes out onto the field??
Perhaps try playing songs voiced by BING.
