Saints running back Alvin Kamara finished with four carries for 23 yards in yesterday’s Pro Bowl…and after the game, he was arrested by Las Vegas police and booked for battery resulting in substantial bodily harm (via ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter).
Per ESPN’s Mike Triplett, Kamara was accused on injuring someone at a Las Vegas nightclub on Saturday evening. The player was taken into custody without incident following yesterday’s game. Curiously, some reports out of Las Vegas indicate that police were aware of the assault allegations and still allowed Kamara to play in the Pro Bowl (as detailed by Jason Cole on Twitter).
The star running back was later released from custody after posting bond. Per Triplett, a conviction “could result in a sentence of one to five years in state prison.” Regardless of the outcome, Kamara will also be subject to discipline from the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy. Kamara’s court date is set for March 8, so we’ll surely get more clarity on the severity then.
The five-year veteran earned the fifth Pro Bowl appearance of his career in 2021. Despite finishing the season with a career-high 287 touches, Kamara finished with 1,337 yards from scrimmage, the second-lowest total of his career. Kamara also finished with nine touchdowns in his 13 games (10 starts). Kamara inked a five-year, $75MM extension prior to the 2020 campaign.
How do you write this article without also writting that video evidence shows him punching the victim 8 times and then multiple more times when he was on the ground?
Id be pissed to going from sean payton to dennis allen and no qb.
I think that kind of damage is implied anytime there’s substantial “bodily farm”.
Harm isn’t so clear, but farm is 8-10 punches global standard.

Lol! Bodily farm cuz he’s a swine
Thank you Ben for giving us a chance to have open comments.
COMMENTS OPEN…..this time….
I seriously hope LV police didn’t turn a blind eye just so the guy could play in the pro bowl.
They did turn a blind eye. Who are they kidding the Pro Bowl and the draft in Vegas and the Super Bowl soon. “ He could of went out to Las Vegas Blvd and shot someone and they wouldn’t do a thing.”
Slight correction – “booked for battery resulting in substantial bodily farm” should be ‘harm’ there. Just saying.
Unless you really did mean to say that Kamara caused substantial bodily farm.
He plowed the guys face. Witness statements said he was absolutely threshing the dude. He then put him away wet.
LV PD is a joke, letting this jerk play a football game before arresting him. Let’s see how Goodell handles this , slap on the wrist or a four game suspension for deflating a football, any bets?
Just another blow to the Saints – when we look at the football side of this, of course, this is extremely serious – if he gets even two years in prison his career is effectively over. No one will want him after this, and he would be pretty much washed up afterwards. I’m sure many fantasy teams will take a blow too.
He will plea down to a misdemeanor assault charge. The legal trouble won’t be significant. I do see him getting at least an 8 game suspension though.
Yes, let’s all be concerned with the fantasy teams.
Substantial bodily FARM?
I’m too lazy to think up a joke about what that would mean.
Goodell was pretty soft on crime this year – so as long as it wasn’t domestic violence he’ll probably look the other way.
Richard Sherman? Still waiting on that punishment…
Criminals in Vegas should stay in Vegas (behind bars).
He should get whatever punishment an average Joe would get if they beat a guy unconscious at a casino.
As for football, anything less than 8 games is a joke. I’d hope the saints would cut him unless he was genuinely provoked but I don’t hold out hope that they like a lot of teams would do the right thing.
There was more contact in that club than there was in the pro bowl.
Comment of the day!
So LVPD knew where Kamara was at all times. He got into a fight, no weapon was used, his bail was $5000. I am sure LVPD worked with NFL Security and probably had everything arranged.
The arrest happened without incident, the event was not inter-feared with, and no headlines were made until after. I am sure that the NFL will punish Kamara for this black eye while he was on NFL time, and all will be forgotten by next Sunday’s big game.
Some of the commentary was silly. An arrest is a procedural thing to charge him with a crime. Punishment only happens after you are found guilty, or plead out.
The arrest (and bail) are not supposed to result in punishment.
Clarity on the Severity. Good album title.
Bodily Farm’s debut album.
Kamara’s lawyer: “Apparently Alvin was under the impression that the Saints still pay bounty incentives when the alleged assault occurred”.
Kamara’s attorney said his client was merely engaged in legitimate political discourse.
That is evidently what it looks like these days.
What is wrong with some of these well paid athletes, huh? It’s like they feel they are far and beyond excepted from “any” acceptable rational behavior, good lord in heaven!
Yes, they’ve been coddled and taken care of because they have physical ability in the sport of Football…..wonder if he can actually spell or string words together in a cohesive sentence…..but he sure can tote that rock…..another stellar citizen and scholar athlete…. this time from Tennessee.
Maybe Goddell should invite him over for dinner…..W
In a mostly peaceful evening at a very upscale and prestigious nightclub in Las Vegas, Alvin Kamara accidentally tripped over a man while Kamara was in the middle of not doing anything.
“Kamara was accused “ON” injuring someone at a Las Vegas nightclub on Saturday evening. “
His posse were merely auditioning their kicking abilities for the NFL scouts in town.
