The NFL’s first ever 17-game regular season is now over, and the 14-team playoff field is set. The end of the year also confirms, of course, the draft order for the top 18 picks, allowing the non-playoff clubs to begin planning for the offseason.
Despite their upset win on Sunday, the Jaguars will have the top selection for the second year in a row; this marks the fifth time a team has had back-to-back No. 1 picks, and the first since the Browns did in 2017-18.
For non-playoff teams, the draft order is determined by the inverted 2021 standings, plus a series of tiebreakers, starting with strength of schedule. For playoff teams, the order is determined by their postseason outcome and regular season record.
Here is the final draft order (for non-playoff teams) along with the current projected order for the 14 postseason clubs:
- Jacksonville Jaguars: 3-14
- Detroit Lions: 3-13-1
- Houston Texans: 4-13

- New York Giants: 4-13

The Eagles give a big thank you to Wentz and the Colts !
Reagor gives a big thanks to the Eagles
15, 16 & 19 aren’t as impressive as 4 & 7.
5 & 7 I should say
Yes, but the Eagles also don’t have Joe Judge as their HC
And they are in the playoffs….
good job niners woulda really stung to give up something in the top 10
Fly Eagles Fly
The eagles are actually 9-8
They’re not counting Saturdays loss to Dallas because most of the replacements players they used were already at their normal jobs as UPS drivers, fitness instructors and substitute teachers this morning.
Thanks Colts!
I preferred the way it looked a few weeks ago when the Eagles had 2 picks around 10 and one around 16
You preferred the way it looked when they were missing the playoffs.
Yes, yes I did. The draft picks would have helped more than getting bounced in rd1.
Interesting that the two NY teams have 4 of the top ten picks, and no one will ever think that this is going to lead to a juggernaut.
And just a little interesting how quickly my Raiders moved back in the draft. They were going to get in the playoffs without the FG, but we managed to bypass both KC & Buffalo.
And given just how badly we’ve botched our #1 picks in the past few years, it almost feels like an advantage drafting #23 instead of maybe #20.
