The Giants are down another quarterback. Mike Glennon injured his wrist during yesterday’s loss to the Bears and will undergo surgery. Glennon will be out of the lineup for this weekend’s inconsequential contest against WFT.
Glennon has started four of the Giants’ five games since Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending neck injury. The Giants have gone 0-4 in Glennon’s starts, and in six total games, the 32-year-old has completed only 53.9 percent of his passes for 790 yards, four touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Yesterday was a particularly ugly performance, as Glennon threw two picks and completed four of his 11 pass attempts en route to the NFL’s worst passer rating of the season.
“I’m pleased with what Mike’s done for the team and how hard he works,” said coach Joe Judge (via the team’s website). “It’s a shame. Mike got hurt in the game yesterday. He’s going to have surgery coming up soon and he won’t be available for the game this week. I know Mike wanted to go out there yesterday and compete and do everything he could for the team, and that’s the way his season will end.”
Jake Fromm started Week 16 for the Giants and will likely get the nod on Sunday. The former fifth-round pick has gotten into two games this year, completing 12 of his 29 pass attempts for 107 yards and one interception. The team also has Brian Lewerke stashed on the practice squad.
Man Joe really didn’t need to lie like that unless he is just happy with their draft position…
the dude’s a joke. this is nothing new.
He is. It’s shocking he hasn’t been fired.
It’s not all that shocking when you know how dysfunctional the Maras are. I’m surprised they haven’t extended him.
relax, there’s still time
Does it really matter to Joe if he’s not going to be there?
He’ll be back next season. Jones will be too. Glennon and Fromm . . . probably not. Prediction: Fromm will be on some random practice squad next season, and Glennon will be out of the league but come on to some team as a backup when someone gets hurt.
If the bar is -11 yards passing and 4 turnovers, chances are good Fromm can help them do better than last week.
After this season and Judge’s post game I think he has to be fired. Let a new GM draft and select a coach. The offense is actually worse without Garrett.
I hope they start Jake Fromm State Farm. Some extra insurance might be necessary considering the fans are falling out of the stands.
This is going to be a brutal game of Fromm has to start. As bad as Glennon was Sunday, Fromm is actually much, much worse. With this line, a young and inexperienced quarterback like Fromm might get killed out there.
It’s a completely meaningless game between two bad teams that just want the season to end. Don’t expect anyone to make any effort.
They need to take a look at his neck … that’s just weird
Giant ownership your team sucks! Sell the team to someone who knows what they’re doing.
If you can get quite wealthy without knowing what you’re doing, why on Earth would you sell?
Lemon makes a great point.
Glennon is a long way away from what was a pretty good backup performance in Tampa Bay. He’s just gotten considerably worse as time as has gone on, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really blame him much for that Bears debacle (it’s not like any other QB has succeeded there since). With that said, there really isn’t a choice when your quarterback performs the way he has recently.
Even a good QB would be absolutely lost on the Giants’ offense, but a mediocre QB like Glennon needs at least something to hold on to to be productive. Otherwise, you get what has happened since Jones went down-a mediocre quarterback playing like an undraftable rookie from a semi-pro league.
