The Giants have been receiving trade inquiries on Darius Slayton (Twitter link via NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport). With a record of 2-6, the Giants could be willing to move the young wide receiver.

Slayton, 24, was a solid fifth-round find in 2019. He nabbed 48 passes for 740 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie, good for a 15.4 yards per catch average. His encore was similarly solid — 50 receptions for 751 yards and three scores. This year has been a different story — hamstring issues sidelined him for several games and he was targeted just twice against the Chiefs last night. Through five games this year, Slayton has 12 catches for 190 yards and one touchdown.
His low-cost contract still has another full year to go, which should hold appeal to rival clubs. Then again, that’d be another reason for the Giants to keep him. And, despite their iffy status, GM Dave Gettleman and head coach Joe Judge have insisted that they won’t hold a desperation fire sale to save their jobs.
Tight end Evan Engram is also said to be drawing trade interest, with multiple teams calling on the fifth-year pro.
Injuries have thinned the WR corps, but if they can get a 4th or 5th for Slayton, they should do it. Same for Engram. I will guess that neither will be traded, though.
Gettleman knows he is getting fired after this year so he doesn’t even care about trading anyone
The Giants should trade Shepard, Engram before Slayton
Agreed. Shepard is good, but he is injured frequently and also will likely fetch a higher price (despite that). Engram…we’ll, I don’t know how much longer he has in New York honestly as is. He could be a good piece on a winning team that needs a receiving threat at the tight end position.
You realize there has to be a market first. It’s easy to say trade Engram but finding someone who wants him may be more difficult. Shepard likely has a better chance than Engram
Yes, I do agree. I am not explicitly saying it, but yes, that part is obvious or should be. I’m not even imploring NYG to make a trade, but I think that they should list Shepard and Engram as higher on their list than Slayton if the desire exists.
I would have moved all of them. The more picks the better. If they have too many they can always package picks and move up in those middle rounds. I think with Gettleman knowing he is likely gone he wasn’t trading anyone. Same as last year and the year before as he had the chance to trade players to stockpile picks then and isn’t do so.
Gettleman has no desire to accumulate draft capital which will only benefit whoever replaces him.
It doesn’t matter who they trade. Fire gettleman and judge it still will not matter. Giants ownership is pathetic. As long as they own the team they will keep hiring crap and drafting crap.
Even worse, the G Men keep staggering into salary cap hell.
Totally agree, Mara is the issue.
Giants need to go back to being a dominant defensive team. I’m tired of seeing Parsons on highlights for Dallas when Parsons should be in NY instead of trading down for Toney
All the offensive weapons added and the team still stinks. They need to build the foundation first (Oline and Dline), then add the toys.
They have 2 first rounders in 22.Should use both picks on a very good linebacker class.Haven’t drafted one in the first round since 84(Carl Banks). He worked out pretty well.
The first 3 picks should be used on Oline, and edge/LB pass rusher
As others have pointed out, the Giants need to seriously overhaul their scouting and player evaluation staffs. The fact that they have had so many of their draft picks from the past 3-4 years either wash out or just become mediocre players is a huge reason the team is consistently awful. Plus add the embarrassing fact that there are very few players on their current squad who would be wanted by other teams.
