Everyone in the Browns locker room wants to see Odell Beckham Jr. succeed, according to Baker Mayfield (Twitter link via Kimberley A. Martin of ESPN.com). The quarterback wants to iron out the ongoing rift between him and OBJ, though he says he’s keeping his focus on the field.

“Yeah i think any conversation would go a long way,” Mayfield said (Twitter links) “[As for a] resolution? I don’t know about that right now. [But], if he’s back, we’ll work through it and I can put my ego and pride aside to win.”
OBJ’s camp stirred the pot on Tuesday with a pair of viral posts on social media. First, Beckham’s father posted a highlight reel of miscommunications between his son and Mayfield. Then, LeBron James chimed in, seemingly urging the Browns to trade his friend before the deadline. One day later, Beckham is still in Cleveland, though he’s absent from practice with a “personal matter”.
Mayfield isn’t sure when he’ll touch base with Beckham, but Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry chatted with his agent earlier today. Beckham has no remaining guarantees on his contract, so the Browns could cut him in early 2022 with zero cap penalty. But, if the situation can’t be salvaged, they could consider releasing him right now. With the trade deadline in the rear view mirror, that would put one of the game’s most gifted talents on the waiver wire, available for all 31 teams.
OBJ has never been a team player. He wants a new contract so he’s chasing the money.
These guys are so wrapped up in themselves and shielded from the real world, they don’t see how ridiculous their “drama” really appears to everyone else. My old man referred to guys like this as “I burgers with me sauce”.
Browns just play so much better without OBJ. Showed it last year. Him pulling a disappearing act will only help the team.
They play pretty mediocre offense regardless of who is out there. With Baker at QB, they have yet to finish higher than 14th in the league in scoring and have been in the 20+ range the other years. People love to blame OBJ but Baker and their system are not very good.
Maybe but they were still in the afc divisional playoff last year and took the chiefs to the wire. Don’t recall the before and after of OBJs injury but it was like 5-3 when he went down and they finished 6-2 and made the playoffs and won a game on the road.
It’s a team built to run first. Lately the biggest issue has been the drops. They had 7 on Sunday and a Landry fumble deep in Pitt territory. These guys need to start catching the ball or it’s not gonna matter who is behind center.
Can’t figure out why they didn’t trade him… even pennies on the dollar is better. He doesn’t want to be there…
He never did, I got that sense when listening to him describe his reaction in learning he was traded here.
Leave, no browns fan wants you here anyway.
I’m so glad Lebron weighed in with his hot take.
Agree. I look to LeBron for life advice because he is so intelligent. Not sure dribbling a ball and whining makes you the expert of life but apparently he does.
Done more for his life than you ever will lol.
Oh yeah bron done so much. Supports communist China. Is a racist. Teammates can’t stand him. Ok he can dribble. Awesome guy.
I’m no Lebron fan, so I have no dog in the fight. But anyone arguing he hasn’t done anything with his life is silly. He’s one of the best to ever play the game. He’s a global icon. Which teammates “can’t stand him?”
Kyrie Irving, for one…
He’ll either get released or elect shoulder surgery. Baker plays better when he’s not trying to force it to him so let him walk.
Release him before the surgery while Beckham can’t claim two years of cap while injured/recuperating.
Release him and he will fail with any team or get hurt again
He only played well when Eli was throwing him the ball.
He’s still trying to bank off that highlight reel one handed catch all those years ago.
Raiders
Not a fan of obj. Acts like a clown.
I have a friend who saw obj out once. All he did was order the most expensive champagne they had, dump half of it on himself, and drink the rest
I’m sorry but any man who orders champagne…
Obj is an absolute cancer
Any criticism of OBJ is bullcrap. I may not like a guy bilateral if he can help me win i can put that aside. Mayfield is a joke of a quarterback and the video proves it. Just throw the open receiver the ball. Why is that so hard to do?
Says guy on couch
Armchair quarterbacks make all the throws.
BAKER MAYFIELD is the best QB in the NFL!!!
Not really but he is the only QB to admit to having an ego.
Lovers quarrel?
Once Lebum got your back you should realize just how much of a beyotch you are…
Maybe if baker doesn’t miss him being open on almost every passing play we wouldn’t be here.
If I were him I wouldn’t have said a word. OBJ is making himself look like the diva he is and his father running his mouth isn’t helping. Why ANY team would sign him again is beyond me. It’s clear he is a cancer to any team.
