Jameis Winston‘s season could be over. The Saints believe their quarterback has suffered a torn ACL, plus additional damage to the MCL (Twitter link via NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport).
“I think it’s significant. He felt something,” head coach Sean Payton said after the game (Twitter link). “I don’t want to say [what it might be] until I’ve had a chance to talk to the doctors.”
Winston’s leg twisted in the second quarter on a hit from linebacker Devin White. After the QB was carted off of the field, backup Trevor Siemian guided the Saints to a 36-27 win over the Buccaneers. Of course, much of the credit goes to the Saints D, which forced three turnovers from Tom Brady, including P.J. Williams‘ game-sealing pick six.
The Saints could stick with Siemian, depending on Taysom Hill‘s status. Hill has been out for the last few weeks with a concussion, so his availability for Week 9 against the Falcons is TBD.
Before his early exit, Winston completed six of his ten throws for 56 yards and one touchdown, plus four carries for 40 yards. His season will likely end with a 59% completion rate for 1,170 passing yards and 14 TDs against three interceptions.
The brown grocery store bag on head days are back.
Throwing salt on a snail a little early ain’t cha?
He’s making a mountain out of a Taysom Hill.
Hello Cam Newton.
Jamies Winston should sue Devin White for all injuries incurred.
Nasty foul. Why would you horse collar someone from behind?
do you have any idea how hard it is to horse collar someone from the front?
Ha! Apologies for the extra verbiage. I meant why would you horse collar someone in general and bend him backwards like that.
You can have Andy Dalton for a conditional 5th round pick.
#FireRyanPace and #FireMattNagy
Dalton makes 10 million also. #thanksPace.
You can have Dalton for free.
Surprise Watson trade incoming
Philip Rivers time
Don’t think the Saints have much cap room at all. Texans had to bend over backwards to make Ingram trade happen. I do think Taylor would be a nice fit for the Saints but it would involve Texans paying down the salary and getting a better pick in return.
Jarred Goff. somebody, anybody…Lions may as well move on if they can find a taker… Saints can take him for this year and move him to the Steelers or Browns , etc. if he does not work out.
Goff makes 10 million. Saints have 812,000 in cap space. Exactly how are you gonna make that work?
Can the Lions keep the cap hit on their books only or no?
Over 5 million? Not likely. Foles only has 2 million left which Saints could convert somebody into a signing bonus to get. Besides, Hill will be back soon I would think but Siemian has never been all that durable and the way they use Hill, he could take a shot at any moment. But have to decide by Tuesday. Plus Goff signed for 4 more years.
Sorry 3 more years thru 2024. Nobody is gonna eat that.
And the Nick Foles door swings open.
Lordy, this again. Is it still 2017? Foles is not a starter anymore. Get over it.
He’s the cheapest option with the season half over He’s only owed half of his 4 million salary which the Bears could eat for a better pick and to get him off the books for next year. As long as it isn’t Pace making the pick.
Foles would be the best option..he’s been stuck in JAX and CHI with terrible support and he’d be a good rotation QB with Hill. Have the Bears eat some salary and fling them a 5th rounder for convincing them Ryan Pace was smart.
