Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is believed to have suffered an AC joint injury in his shoulder (Twitter link via NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo). He’ll know for sure on Monday, but that wouldn’t be a terrible outcome considering he was carted off the field.
Alexander was forced out in the third quarter after colliding with Steelers running back Najee Harris. The Packers went on to win 27-17, advancing to 3-1 on the year.
Alexander, the 18th-overall pick in the 2018 draft, earned All-Rookie team honors and showcased his skills throughout his first two pro seasons. He started earning some league-wide recognition in 2020, including a Pro Bowl nod and second-team All-Pro nod. The 24-year-old ultimately finished the campaign with 51 tackles, 13 passes defended, one interception, one sack, and one forced fumble in 15 starts. He also came up big during the postseason, snagging a pair of interceptions in two games.
Through four games this year, Alexander has 13 tackles and one interception. It may be a while before he can add to those totals, but the early prognosis indicates that it won’t be a season-ender.
Genuinely confused here, as I watched the game and saw Alexander being able to walk off the field with trainers after that 4th and 4 play. Jaire being carted off the field is news to me, unless you meant from the sidelines…
I believe he walked to the sideline slowly and then was carted off from the sideline to the locker room. But there was a clip of him riding in the passenger seat of the cart heading to the locker room. So just semantics really not a huge difference
What should be a big deal from the game were the blown calls… No way was that off sides on that blocked kick and who does a split (tripping) while trying to sack ….
Oh yeah, Jaire could be a huge loss moving forward forward for the Pack no matter how he left the field.
Not trying to be a homer..seriously wondering why I didn’t see a replay of the FG block with a better view of the “offsides”..all the while Romo kept harping on the idea the 2 guys didn’t jump, I was wondering if 1 or both lined up offsides..?
And I hate that tripping is a penalty at all, when it involves bringing the player with the ball to the turf..but since it’s supposed to be, that play was in fact, a penalty.
Maybe, maybe not. However the Steelers were a flaming dumpster on offense yesterday and couldn’t stop GB most of the day. Even if it’s correctly called, GB wins that game, just by 1 score instead of 2.
