Guessing both Roche and Marsh are getting opportunities elsewhere, surprising not to see one of the two on the PS
Same with Mathew Sexton
Roche was claimed on waivers by the Giants. Sexton might have blown his chance in the last preseason game. For what it’s worth, Steven Sims has 61 receptions in 2 seasons with the Washington Football Team and is a much better prospect than Sexton.
Sims has looked decent in spurts. Need all the developmental prospects they can get at WR since JuJu and Washington are likely gone next year. Also, not much depth right now if someone gets hurt.
Safety Karl Joseph will be moved up to varsity quickly
He’s been a big disappointment so far in the NFL. I hope he finds his way with the Steelers.
Well, he can run-stuff, but the Steelers have that player already in Edmonds. If Joseph sticks, it’ll be as a nickel package linebacker. I think the Christian Miller signing could be an under the radar find for them, though.
I suppose the Thaddeus Moss signing is mostly for Burrow’s sake? If Moss shows enough to move up to the active roster, and then shows enough to stay, I expect the Bengals to try him out on designed plays that he ran at LSU.
Gonna find out real quick if it was the Raiders or if it was Joseph. For a talent weak team, definitely surprising to see.
The Raiders seem to enjoy cycling through safeties for whatever odd reason, but I believe Joseph was a McKenzie pick that the new regime was lukewarm on from the start (if I remember right). They selected Abram, who ideally fills the same role, and I thought that they’d cut Joseph a year before they actually did let him go. Not because I disliked Joseph necessarily, it just seemed to be the direction that they were headed in.
As for right now, I think Joseph’s coverage abilities limit him as a safety, but his hitting and run stuffing could make him an option as s sub package linebacker. He might not do a full time transition ska Mark Barron (who was a little larger) or Deone Buchanan, but I think that would expose him less in coverage while taking advantage of his smaller size and greater speed in comparison to most linebackers.
