Stephen Ross reportedly wants to bring embattled Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson to South Beach. That’s no secret, and that’s a sticking point to the Dolphins’ owner. Ross is unhappy about the late-August leak, according to a source who spoke with PFT.
Watson could be a game-changer for the Dolphins, but Ross doesn’t want to overrule his football people who seem less excited about the idea. Ross also seems willing to wait until next year, when there should be more clarity on Watson’s legal situation and availability.
The Texans still want three first-round draft picks (and more) for Watson and they want them to come with zero conditions. That doesn’t sit well with the Dolphins or other potentially interested clubs who know that Watson could quickly be parked on the commissioner’s list. Meanwhile, it’s safe to assume that the Panthers’ interest in Watson has cooled. New QB Sam Darnold has Carolina at 2-0, following last night’s 24-9 drumming over Houston.
Even with Tyrod Taylor sidelined, the Texans turned to rookie Davis Mills on Thursday with journeyman Jeff Driskel as his backup. Even if Ross really wants Watson in Miami, it sounds like the three-time Pro Bowler will remain in limbo for the foreseeable future.
Carolina is 3-0
It’s a zack links article what do you expect. I’m shocked he even knew it was the Carolina panthers I was expecting him to say Los Angeles lakers that’s how bad he is
Doesn’t this website have an editor? Some of the mistakes here are worse than those of 8th grade essays.
Again, it’s Zach Links.
Thank you for telling us absolutely nothing…lol
It’s just click bait. We’ll see this same article posted until the trading deadline.
Texans should lower the asking price.
2 1sts, couple mid + late round picks, and some young depth pieces.
From the dolphins:
2022 1st, 2022 3rd, 2022 5th
2023 1st, 2023 3rd, 2023 4th, 2023 6th
Liam Eichenberg
Noah Igbinoghene
Send the Dolphins Watson and Cooks if they can absorb the salaries.
All that for a QB who could be out for a year or 2. How about a second and later round picks. Houston isnt dealing from a position of strength any longer.
Rule #1 of business. Don’t overstate your interest.
When youre buying a house last thing you do is overstate your desire for the home. You talk about negative aspects to drive price down and be willing to walk if you don’t like the price.
The Dolphins are driving up the price overstating their desire to acquire him.
He could be out a year or two? He might be doing a lot more time than that and then get out in about 10 years with good behavior…
That would be a gross overpay even if Watson didn’t have the “stink” on him.
Love when owners get involved (when it’s the other team). Never good for that team, but always good for the other team.
Panthers are 3-0
Basically it’s non-story until Watson legal stuff is figured out. Same old, Same old
Either way, no way Houston would trade him this early in the season. Big difference between a top 5 Miami pick and a number 20 Miami pick. This isn’t Bill O’Brien running the team anymore.
Does anyone proof read these articles? Seems like every single one has errors.
I think you can just sign up and become a writer for the site, no experience necessary.
They put out a “Hiring Writers” post every few years, and claim you have to have journalism experience or studied it, etc. Problem is nobody proofreads
Next time you see an error look who wrote it. $100 bucks says Zach links
which is sadder? the lack of professionalism of the “writing” staff or that they’ve been closing the comment sections for minor transactions?
The fact they close any comment section is a joke. Why mention something if we can’t discuss it. Most of the writers I feel do a good job but it’s well known zack links is well the weak link. They don’t care enough to replace him
You learn more from the comment section in a Zach Links article then you do in the article itself. Maybe his articles should just be blank open forums in the future?
Underrated comment of the week…congrats, pick up your prize
Waiting is the right move for the Dolphins. There’s no reason to rush right now for a quarterback who probably won’t play this year (or possibly even next), except for impatience-especially if Houston hasn’t lowered its price. Also, waiting a year lets Miami give Tu’a an extended chance to show some development. Nothing would be worse than replacing your first round pick, just to watch him end up elsewhere and have success. Depending on how much time he misses, Tagovailoa should at least get most of the year to show if he can progress as a quarterback at a pro level before they deal or sit him.
I feel I’ve read this post before. And before that. And before that one, and the one before…
When has Zach posted an article without an error?
Still waiting on it
Watson will get traded all right – in March 2022.
