The Jets added Johnson earlier this month. While the 35-year-old hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2018, there was some optimism that he could compete for a spot as Zach Wilson‘s backup. That ultimately wasn’t the case, and with James Morgan also getting waived, the team will roll with Mike White as the second QB.
dang Ryan Griffin was cut twice today
So was Josh Johnson.
That’s an awful lot of D-linemen for a D-line needy team.
So you think they didn’t keep enough D-linemen on the 53?
Just because of the two major injury losses and the new players brought in, I’d be more comfortable with one or two more, but that’s just me as an observer. Saleh also is used to having quality rotating players to help pick up slack, so more options in a situation where two of those top guys are missing could be more helpful here than on other teams. But that’s just me.
There’s 10 DL on the 53; you would go with as many as 12? Where would you cut back?
Only cut that bothers me is Josh Adam’s. I thought he showed potential.
I can’t believe the Jets cut Lamar Jackson! Didn’t he just win the MVP? XD
Joe Douglas prefers when he can keep both players of the same name on the main roster, hence Michael Carter and Michael Carter II. That’s why Josh Johnson, Ryan Griffin, and Lamar Jackson all had to go. They could come back for the practice squad, though.
Chuck Noll: “Cutting isn’t the problem. Stopping is”
Mike White and Lamar reference tags are wrong, cmon Ben!
I was gunna say…I knew the jets were bad but having a 64 year old defensive lineman as their backup qb brings them to a whole new level.
I could see the Jets placing Mike White on the short term IR if his ribs are still recovering, then signing Josh Johnson to start the season as the backup until Mike White is ready to return after three games. James Morgan should be on the practice squad.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank the PFR staff for their dedication to football fans. I don’t know if the 82 articles of free content sets a single day record but it’s an impressive effort in any event. Keep up the great work guys!
Hear, hear!
