By all accounts, the Falcons are seeking a first-round pick in exchange for Julio Jones. But, in reality, they’d accept a second-round choice for the All-Pro wide receiver, a source tells Peter King of The MMQB.

That would certainly help to facilitate a trade. Jones, 32, is scheduled to make $38MM over the next three years. Meanwhile, the Falcons star could demand a new deal (read: more guaranteed money). Between his age, injuries, and the possibility of having to dish out even more money, it’s hard to imagine anyone sacrificing a Round 1 choice.
Reportedly, one club did offer a first-round pick for Jones, but King is skeptical. Meanwhile, some of the teams tied to Jones do not own their 2022 first-round pick. Instead, as King’s source indicates, the Falcons could be okay with a 2022 second-rounder. In theory, the Falcons can drag things out over the summer, but it’s hard to imagine even a ’23 or ’24 first-round pick being offered.
Jones could be traded as soon as Wednesday, when the Falcons (and other clubs) can divide dead money between the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Seahawks have recently entered the sweepstakes, but the Titans and 49ers appear to be his most likely destinations. The Niners, led by Jones’ former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, would make lots of sense. When they were together in 2015 and 2016, Jones went off for 3,280 yards from scrimmage with 14 touchdowns.
It appears there’s a lot of interest. My prediction is they get a 2nd rounder that’s conditional and conveys to a 1st if he plays 70% > of snaps.
The Hawks or 49ers don’t have 2022 first round picks. Titans do though.
They are really hoping they can get a first even tho they forget his age and health. At best they should take a second and some players. Take what you can don’t try to wait and the offers get worse
Doubt it….now that he wants another massive payday to whoever gets him and he’s past his prime and an injury risk on top of that.
Raiders offered ateman and a 2nd rounder apparently plus have been extremely active in talks. If they can get him and go get Rogers that gives them a strong window of 3/4 years
I don’t feel LV needs Rodgers. Carr is a good QB. Also, if they’re taking on Julio, cap room goes bye.
I highly doubt that this offer actually was on the table. I am a Marcell fan however, he has been cut more times then a goth girl with daddy issues. Any team that wants him can just wait.
Aaron Rodgers to the Raiders make zero sense. What solid fact can one point to in Las Vegas that would cure any or all of Mr. Rodger’s issues in Green Bay? If anyone honestly thinks that Gruden is going to sell the farm to the Pack and give all control to Aaron……. I have a Bitcoin dispensing ATM for sale
A 2nd and a 2023 4th rounder is fair.
No, it’s not. A 4th rd pick from a playoff team is over 100 slots deep in the draft. That’s too light.
If it’s not a first round pick, I think it needs to be two seconds.
The pats should make this trade Harry, Michel and a 4th for Jones and a 6th
Pats won’t resign either of those guys so they should try and trade them instead of getting nothing
A second and Stidham from the Patriots will get it done
Pats should offer a 2022 3rd that can become a 2nd based on incentives and 2023 4th.
