The Packers kicked off their organized team activities on Monday. As expected, Aaron Rodgers was not among those in attendance (Twitter link via ESPN.com’s Rob Demovsky).
Historically, Rodgers has been on hand for voluntary work. But, in recent weeks, he’s told those close to him that he wants out. For their part, the Packers say he’s staying put.
“We still obviously feel the same way,” head coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this month. “We want him back in the worst way. I know he knows that. And we’ll continue to work at it each and every day.”
They can try, but Rodgers seems to be sticking to his position. The Broncos and other clubs have been keeping a watchful eye on the situation with the hope that the Packers’ asking price will come down a bit. It’s been speculated that the Packers want at least two first-round picks, a second-rounder, and perhaps even a quality young quarterback.
Offseason work goes from voluntary to mandatory on June 8th, with minicamp running through June 10th. Rodgers has already lost out on $500K in bonuses by staying home — that number will quickly top $1MM if he abstains from minicamp and training camp.
For cap purposes, a Rodgers deal would need to be a post-June 1st thing anyway. With mandatory activities rapidly approaching, we should know a lot more soon.
crazy that Rodgers, Deshaun, and Julio could all still and most likely will move before the start of the year
Julio’s the only one who will move. Rodgers and Packers will work things out. Deshaun is untradeable until his masseuse scandal investigations are completed.
He’s finally going to talk tonight on Sportscenter.
Really? Or is 1 or more of the clown hosts/reporters going to do their usual ‘heard it from a friend of a friend of a former teammate/ coach that Rodgers inferred blah blah blah’ and sell it as fact, which 90% of the so called intelligent viewers (which, how can you be simply based on the fact you’re watching ESPN in the first place?) slurp up without hesitation?
Who doesn’t watch ESPN? At least in the background. You probably tell everyone they gotta listen tho this or that podcast. That type of guy is as annoying as a vegan who is obligated to tell you they are vegan.
Dont have tv, never listened to a podcast, and I’m not vegan. You must have gotten your info on me from ESPN too. Keep up the good work fellas. You might get to work there some day!
He won’t be talking about this subject. Will be about Kenny Mayne and anything else but. I doubt they’ll even touch the subject
“We still obviously feel the same way,” head coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this month. “We want him back in the worst way. I know he knows that. And we’ll continue to work at it each and every day.”
Apparently, you weren’t wise enough to know by trading up in the 1st round for a 3rd string QB wouldn’t tick off a HoF’er?
I’ve been a DC fan since the heyday of the 80’s while actually winning, but even Dan couldn’t have screwed that situation up worse.
… like the Cousins/RGIII scenario?
But this 2 were drafted in a same draft. It was foolish by Mike S to do.
Do you think anyone gave 2 sh!ts what Rex Grossman thought about the Redskins drafting 2 QB’s in one draft?
It’s not like the Redskins had a Manning under center and traded up to draft Cousins instead of Julio Jones. If I recall, the 2020 draft class wasn’t thin at WR?
Arty!
I think you may be forgetting how Rodgers appeared to be on a continual downward slide up until last year. I think the drafting of Love woke him up, whether he liked it or not.
At the same time, I do agree that the drafting of Love was an incredibly stupid move based on the other current needs of the team. I don’t have a whole lot of respect for Rodgers feelings being hurt by it though. He’s a grown man, for god’s sake, and more arrogant than almost any other football player I can think of. He should not have had his feelings hurt or felt threatened by this. I don’t think most grown men would have.
Drafting Love may or may not have been stupid- What was stupid was not giving your franchise QB a heads up that you were gonna do it.
It’s about the money. It’s always BEEN about the money.
If Rodgers wants to be traded why didn’t he last year do that. The Packers took Love and could of demanded a trade next day. If it’s about money does Rodgers realize the more he makes the less to surround him with good players to win another SB

Excellent comment and agreed on all points
Too many idiots here…
I’d give Gutey a different job at the same salary while Rodgers is still with the team but not a new contract since Rodgers says it’s not about the money. Let’s see what excuse we get then. If he doesn’t report then it wii make him look bad and people will realize it’s him and not the organization. How many other players do you hear complaining about the way the team is run? How many players are saying they need to get him to report. What does that tell you. Letting him have input on the draft is crazy but Aaron thinks he’s smarter than everybody else. He wanted the Packers to keep kumerow. Look at his career stats and how he’s bounced around. Caught 1 pass last year.
